Distorted moon dripping black coffee(Izayoi-san)
Gurgle, gurgle...
The sound flows pleasantly, and the flames flicker.
In my busy daily life, brewing coffee slowly with a siphon is my only moment of peace. The black liquid pouring slowly with a sound seems to be extracted from the black mass inside me, shining even more intensely than the color black itself.
Swallowing this pitch-black liquid packed with bitterness and fragrance, I finally become my usual self. The coffee steam rose high, and beyond it, a sky full of mackerel clouds spread across the window.
Child reading Misuzu's poems aloud, mackerel clouds(Temari-san)
"Morning glow, evening glow.
A big catch.
A big catch of large sardines."
My elementary school daughter is humming a poem by Misuzu Kaneko.
It seems she memorized it while reading it aloud for homework. I'm not interested in Misuzu Kaneko, but after hearing it so many times, I've somehow come to like this poem too.
"The beach looks like a festival,
but in the sea,
tens of thousands of sardines
must be mourning."
My daughter, reading aloud rhythmically and happily, is carefully brushing her long hair in front of the mirror. Once they reach the upper grades of elementary school, they become obsessed with fashion. She no longer wears the cute clothes my wife prepares for her.
"Everyone else isn't wearing stuff like that."
I buy it because everyone else has it. I don't do it because everyone else isn't doing it. Everyone, everyone. Who on earth is this 'everyone'? Thinking about it makes me feel a bit ridiculous.
However, contrary to my daughter's bright voice, this poem isn't actually that cheerful when you think about it. The fishermen rejoicing over a massive catch of sardines, and their companions in the sea mourning the deaths of those sardines. When these mackerel clouds eventually disappear, will there be those who mourn somewhere in the sky?
As I stepped out onto the balcony thinking about such things, the mackerel sky had completely vanished. Autumn clouds move fast. In their place, a single streak of cloud stretched out straight.
Autumn clouds, the long tail of Asuka in Yamato(by Himuto-san)
It was as if it were the trail of a bird racing across the vast sky. If I were to meet this bird someday, would it carry me away to fly anywhere I wanted? The vivid contrast of blue and white stung my eyes, making me feel as though I might start dreaming such a dream.
Crushed by the daily grind, it was finally Saturday, and I was free. Even though I had planned to spend it relaxing at home, I suddenly felt like going somewhere far away.
Looking back, the Adatara road where the mountains are dressed in autumn colors(by k_maru-san)
"Mom, hurry, hurry!"
"Just wait a second! Honestly, if you were going to go, you should have told me yesterday so I could have prepared properly."
Mount Adatara, where I go for autumn leaf viewing every year, should be at its peak right now. Driving while aiming for the "true sky" that also appears in Chieko-sho, and cutting through the colorful mountains, is also quite pleasant.
The distorted things inside me will surely be blown away by the beautiful autumn scenery. If that happens, I'm sure I'll be able to do my best even when Monday comes around again.

The Izayoi Cup is also in its final stages, and due to time constraints, I have summarized the announcements and the Haiku de Pon participation articles here. My apologies.
This time, I chose Izayoi-san's black coffee haiku as a starting point, and I tried writing something light, experimenting with how to develop it refreshingly from there. Autumn haiku often have a mellow tone, so they are quite difficult...
🌟 Thank you to everyone whose precious haiku I was allowed to use. 😊💕
