Part 13 : Let's find how to make the Earth more peaceful, now!
Hello to all the people of the world, especially the esteemed leaders of the world, the hopeful children who are our future, and the nurturing mothers who guide us all. This is Grandpa Hirojii, sending my heartfelt message Part 13 for world peace.
I would like to give you some hints on what each of us can do to contribute to world peace.
Today I will be talking about Chapter 10 : What Each Individual Can Do - Hope and Action for the Future
Chapter 10 : What Each Individual Can Do - Hope and Action for the Future
It Was Women Who Gave Birth to Eight Billion People
Finally, I, Hirojii would like to share my thoughts as a Japanese person on what Japan should do.
Looking back at the long history, the evolution of humanity, and the progress of science, I have examined various perspectives on how to make our planet more peaceful. While it's impossible to cover everything, there is always truth in history, and the advancement of science will undoubtedly unlock further unknown worlds and teach humanity more.
Long ago, there was only one sun, and the starry sky was the entire universe.
Long ago, it was believed that a rabbit lived on the moon visible from Japan.
Long ago, the sun revolved around the Earth.
Long ago, there was no war.
Before we knew it, humans began to speak.
Before we knew it, humans created gods.
Before we knew it, humans started killing each other.
Before we knew it, we even created nuclear weapons.
By the time we realized it, the universe was formed 13.8 billion years ago.
By the time we realized it, our human ancestors were not just chimpanzees but bacteria.
By the time we realized it, there was no rabbit on the moon even when humans went there.
By the time we realized it, the Earth had become full of wars.
Perhaps what's needed now to eliminate war from the world is the voice of Japan, the sole country to have experienced atomic bombings. Japan must become a nation with an unwavering resolve that nuclear weapons must never be used again, and be able to firmly say, "That is wrong," in the face of injustice. Now is the time for Japan to raise its voice to the world, advocate for what is truly right, and persuade the international community.
I may no longer have the significant strength or time left for that. However, I simply cannot believe that what the adults who start wars say is right. I will continue to shout, again and again, that I dislike "bullies." This is because I feel that bullies grow up to be the adults who start wars. I can't help but think that adults who cannot cherish women and children are the ones who trigger wars.
Those who cannot engage in proper discussion, or who use humanity's language ability—which evolved for efficient hunting—for bullying or heartless online comments, are truly regressing in evolution. Freely expressing opinions, engaging in deep discussion, and repeatedly dialoguing to find solutions that satisfy both sides—without such methods, it will be difficult to achieve the "Four Peaces" that Grandpa Hiro first mentioned.
Watching NHK's "Darwin's Amazing Animals!" (Darwin ga Kita!), I am moved by the sight of beautiful flora and fauna in the natural world struggling to survive for the prosperity of their descendants. Yet, I sometimes can't help but feel a strong sense of crisis, wondering if we humans are not only killing our fellow beings but also attempting to destroy the Earth itself.
The following are Grandpa Hiro's musings:
Truth lies in history and science. The greatest truth among all that has been said so far is that humanity is the strongest creature in history, with a population of eight billion individuals. All living things cherish their mothers. Fathers work hard and strive to leave offspring. We must not forget the truth that it was all mothers who gave birth to these eight billion people.
No Child Has Ever Failed to Become an Adult
Children are still not cherished enough. Grandpa Hirojii talks to children whenever and wherever possible. They are all adorable. I hope they don't become bullies. Trains, amusement parks, plazas, parks, bowling alleys – they are full of cute children. I just hope they don't grow up to be adults who start wars.
Let's Eliminate All Discrimination
Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, and gender has improved considerably, but there is still so much discrimination, such as between developed and developing countries, indigenous peoples and minorities, and the gap between the rich and the poor. I believe there is no discrimination among all the wonderful humans who walk on two legs and possess language skills, all who have survived and evolved for 13.8 billion years.
Louder Voices for Mothers, Women, and Children
I hope that mothers all over Japan and the world, together with their beloved children, will continue to shout loudly: don't kill our children in wars, don't become adults who kill people, don't become bullies. We should all use a scientific perspective to consider why religion, which was originally a great power that mourned the dead, guided troubled people to happiness, and united communities, still becomes the cause of terrible wars.
Scientific Discussion and Research Are Crucial
There is no greater "trap of ignorance" than religion dominating science. Conversely, if humanity becomes too foolish, we may be dominated by a different future artificial humanity created by artificial intelligence.
When you think about it, all eight billion people living on Earth today have survived for 13.8 billion years since the Big Bang. Our ancestors were not just chimpanzees; they were all bacteria. Religion, race, and language all originated from the same source. There were no territories or territorial waters. We were all related. Humanity's enemy should not be humanity itself.
Even now, let us cling to the mercy of gods and Buddhas around the world. Grandpa Hirojii wants to say that the only way for humanity to conquer space from now on is to abandon attachments and desires that harm other countries and to coexist with freedom, diversity, democracy, and peace.
The Prime Minister of Japan should have the courage to address the United Nations General Assembly and declare clearly: "Japan will never, for all eternity, dispatch Japanese people as soldiers to other countries. Japan will not create or possess nuclear weapons. However, as long as the international community remains anarchic, Japan may be forced to maintain the world's strongest alliance, self-defense capabilities, and deterrence."
Let me write down the four meanings of the word "peace" once more:
Peace No. 1: A situation where there is no war between or within nations. (No war)
Peace No. 2: A peaceful situation without unpleasant noise. (No noise)
Peace No. 3: A calm state of mind without worries or problems. (Calmness)
Peace No. 4: A situation where there is no conflict among people living or working together. (No harassment)
The most important thing in this world is for everyone's ordinary daily life to continue. If that's what you think, then you should make it happen; you should pool your wisdom to make it happen. So why do wars occur? And why do adults, politicians, and leaders start them? How long will we continue to threaten each other with terrifying nuclear weapons that could destroy the Earth?
Human fortune is as unpredictable as the old man's horse; happiness and misfortune are intertwined like a twisted rope. Peace always comes after war. "A harsh government exists above a foolish populace." Don't fall into the "trap of ignorance"; study hard. Grandpa Hirojii's opinions may seem reckless or idealistic, but in such an anarchic international society, I felt compelled to share perspectives on the essence of security and wisdom from a historical viewpoint, hoping it might be of some help to you all. Grandpa Hirojii's consistent message has been: by all means, do not fall into the "trap of ignorance."
To be continued.
