Our tendency to seek consistency
I feel that humans gain the strength to move forward by believing in something.
However, the things we believe in can change over time, transforming into different shapes and movements.
Sometimes I find myself wondering, "Wait, is this something I should really be following?"
But when you think about it, there is nothing that doesn't change.
✅ Even though it's actually fragmented
People always live by believing in something.
Religion is a prime example of this.
Some people may take it lightly, but humans are capable of even sacrificing their lives for what they believe in.
That is precisely why we must discern what we believe in and what we reject.
What is frightening is that if you believe in something quite wrong, or something that no longer fits the times, some kind of negative impact will soon appear.
I, too, have been betrayed by things I believed in the past.
I am sure that all of you reading this have experienced something similar, to varying degrees.
Because of the nature of humans who live by believing, we try to perceive what we believe in as something consistent.
But in my experience, the things we believe in are actually fragmented.
Things look completely different depending on the person, and if it is a person, their way of thinking can change due to time and experience, potentially making them an entirely different individual.
✅ Solidifying things with a sense of ambiguity
Once I realized I had been betrayed by what I believed in, I almost stopped clinging to one thing.
People always change, and even matter changes at the nanosecond level.
So, as my technique, I decided to spend my time with things in vague categories.
I never make my beliefs 100%.
I feel now that it is better to have some leeway, at about 60% to 70%.
I deepen my knowledge so that I can pivot to something else when the time comes.
I may believe in this now, but as I spend time there, I sometimes realize it is different.
I want to keep my mind flexible so that I can move my actions and thoughts to something different at any time.
✅ Summary
This risk hedge of mine might be because of my past of believing in one thing too much and being betrayed and hurt.
Certainly, blindly trusting someone might be safe and warm.
However, the shock when you are betrayed is immeasurable.
That said, it is also my true way of operating to seriously engage with someone I have come to like, while setting my own limiters until I detect something abnormal.
