Doing trivial things with all your might
If you only ever do things that are considered useful or meaningful, you may eventually be struck by a sense of emptiness.
I, too, once became a demon of efficiency, discarding everything I thought was a waste and working hard on useful things, but it didn't work out.
I realized that a little bit of waste can sometimes enrich your life.
✅ Being too pure doesn't taste good
Have you ever tasted just sugar or just salt?
It definitely has a taste, but it's not exactly delicious, is it?
Moreover, if you have too much of it, you might get a headache from it being too sweet, or suffer from it being too salty.
This is just an analogy, but I think this applies to many things.
It's true for work, and it's true for your own hobbies and play.
If you line everything up without any gaps, it becomes too purified and suddenly becomes painful.
We are not machines, so we need a break somewhere.
There is something called the "Pomodoro Technique."
It is a technique for people who work for long periods, where you focus on a task for 25 minutes and then take a 5-minute break.
By inserting playtime in between like this, it often turns out to be the most efficient way when looking at the big picture.
✅ Play colors your life
When you become an adult, you are often expected to be a proper person when you go out into the world.
However, humans are the kind of beings who sometimes fail and feel down.
I understand the feeling of being depressed and thinking that you are no good because you failed.
But in reality, there is almost no such thing as a perfect human being.
In my past life, there has never been anyone who was perfect.
That is precisely why, conversely, it is very important to be a person who incorporates play into their life.
When you can recognize that you are not perfect and that you need some breathing room because you are human, life actually goes more smoothly.
The reason is that even if you fail a little, you can think, 'Well, I'm not perfect, so it can't be helped!'.
By accepting your slightly imperfect self and taking it a little easier, living becomes easier and more enjoyable.
✅Summary
I often tell dad jokes and get blank stares from my family.
However, it's not contempt; it feels like a loving jab at that kind of character, which is actually fun.
Now, my son has also become quite fond of puns and plays around by telling them to my wife. (It's heartwarming.)
Let's try incorporating trivial things into life like this.
You might see something different.
