In the end, I suppose I am the center of the world.
This is something I thought about when looking at humans from a biological perspective.
Even if a person performs an altruistic act, I sometimes feel that the deeper you go into their core, the more they are centered on themselves.
If it were truly an altruistic act, I cannot help but think that it is like locking oneself away tightly.
✅ There is such a thing as healthy self-centeredness, isn't there?
People often get angry, saying, "Don't just think about yourself!" but I've always thought that was an unreasonable demand.
If I don't think about myself, who will think about me?
The more a person has established themselves, the more honest they are with themselves, yet they act in ways that are socially acceptable.
For example, someone who only takes care of others but cannot take care of themselves has something slightly misaligned.
In an example I know, that is the wife of an alcoholic.
I think it is very unfortunate when she is pushed around by her husband's alcoholism to the point where she cannot take care of herself or look after her children.
I thought this while watching my own parents.
I think it would be much healthier to hand such a husband over to a professional rather than trying to force yourself to handle it, and instead focus on taking care of yourself.
To apply a phrase I heard somewhere, this is likely a "disease of relationships."
✅ It's fine to get along well with society
You can still get along perfectly well with society even while thinking about yourself.
In fact, society is more likely to accept you if you properly think about yourself, discipline your actions, and live a good life.
I believe that because people live half-heartedly for the sake of others, they eventually reach their limit, leading to incidents or illness.
I am the same; when I force myself, the distortion eventually snaps at some point.
In my case, it resulted in depression and panic disorder.
That is precisely why I realize that taking proper care of myself and focusing on myself leads to children growing up healthily, even in parenting.
This is because by seeing their parents value themselves, children can learn that it is okay for them to value themselves as well.
I think it is good to produce a wonderful version of yourself.
✅ Summary
I now imagine that the purpose of life is to enjoy it.
Rather than doing something grand or building up honor, the true purpose of enjoying life is how many moments you can create where you think, "Ah, I'm having fun right now."
Moreover, rather than thinking about tomorrow or the future, how you spend this very moment is very important and is likely the way of living that is true to yourself.
