How Busy People Manage Housework

Since my wife was working away from home for 10 years, I was a single-parent househusband.
Doing housework and childcare while working is, as expected, tough, so I learned techniques to not only streamline my work but also to handle housework in a way that minimizes the burden.

✅ Doing things immediately saves time in the end

What I realized after trying it myself is that giving in to the immediate hassle and putting off small chores is the biggest factor in increasing the burden of housework.
So, I made 'do it immediately' my motto for housework.
For example, if I see trash on the floor, I pick it up and put it in the trash can right away.
It's best to wash the day's laundry on that day, and to wash the dishes immediately after eating.
Speaking of dishes, they become harder to clean once they dry, so washing them while they are still moist makes the dirt come off easily, which saves time in total.

✅ Reading several moves ahead like a shogi player

Housework is just like shogi; if this move happens, then that will happen.
So, I would look over the current situation and think, 'If things are like this, this will happen later, so I should do that now.'
When you have been doing housework for a long time, there are many such things, and because you know them, reading a few moves ahead and planning in advance makes housework easier later on.
For example, if the weather forecast says the weather is questionable, I don't hang the laundry outside and instead dry it indoors before going to work.
That way, I reduce the hassle of having to re-wash things because they got wet in the rain.
I have been doing things like that all along.

Even for a man, when you are completely entrusted with the housework and are with the children, you become quite the househusband.
The reason many men in the world aren't very good at housework is often just because they don't do it.
Doing things around the house is actually very useful for work as well, so I always think it's a waste that more people don't do it.
