Welcome to the Botanical Library Garden.

I have come to think that my note is like a botanical garden, bringing together gardens of various atmospheres.
I have started to feel that way lately.

Since I was a child, I have had many things I wanted to do. I remember well how I used to trouble my parents by filling my days with lessons.

Even after becoming an adult and making writing my profession, that hasn't changed.
I cannot focus on just one thing. No, I accept now that it just isn't like me.

I have always pushed forward with the things I wanted to do.

When I was in my teens, I won an award for a novel.
I thought about pursuing that path, but things didn't go very well. I went to school, got a job, and got married like everyone else.

It was when I was 23 years old.
My new home was overflowing with things I had to do and a massive amount of stuff.

When I faced my own 'inability' to cope, I didn't know how I should live from then on.

The catalyst for breaking through that situation was the library.
My husband worked until the last train every day, and there were even times when he was called out by his boss on his days off. On days when I didn't have a part-time shift, I didn't want to be in a house that felt uncomfortable, so I escaped to the library.

At that time, I was also suffering from the words of those around me.

'When are you going to publish a novel?'

Everyone asks with a smile.
But for me, not knowing what to do, that was painful. What should I do? How could I change? As I looked at the library shelves with a desperate feeling, I began to take an interest in the section for practical lifestyle books, which I hadn't read much of before.

At the library,
and at the bookstore.

I picked up so many books.
And I managed to fix my messy room on my own, and even earned a certification in organizing.

By sharing on my blog, I created a system where I could show my daily efforts to others, which added a psychological burden.
And as I posted about making my苦手 (weak) housework a little bit better, it gradually became fun. I'm still not good at it, it gets messy right away, and I can't keep at things steadily.
But I realized that when my room is tidy before I go to sleep, I feel happy.

As I reduced the time spent searching and looking things up, I gained more breathing room, and the guilt of 'doing things for myself when nothing is finished' began to disappear.

It was in my mid-twenties that a publisher approached me and asked, 'Would you like to publish a book?'

─❅─

Since then, I have been active as an author of practical lifestyle books for a long time.
But what I want to write is not just 'useful things'.

Useless things.
Things that are true to life.
The many stories inside my head.

I want to write everything.

At that time, I restarted the note account I had left untouched for years.
Although it was about daily life, it wasn't something useful for everyone. That's why I hesitated to write it on my blog.

The article from that time was chosen as a featured article on note.
For the first time, I felt like someone had recognized me.

While writing steadily since then, I encountered a 'place where I could write freely' through a magic password. I can write anything. With that realization, my breathing suddenly became much easier.

No matter the genre, how happy it is to be told that someone 'wants to read' my work.
That's what I thought.

It was just around the time I lost one of my two cats.
With the loss of that child who used to get in the way of my writing, it was as if a stopper had been removed, and I began to sacrifice my sleep to keep writing.
Horror, mystery, romance novels, children's stories, and light novels.

And once I started writing, I found myself wanting to return to public submissions again.
I didn't win any awards. However, I have increasingly been passing the initial screenings and getting close to winning.

I continue to write practical lifestyle books as well. Since last year, I have published two books related to daily living.

I am also working hard to write things that only I can write, using the technique of scattering ideas throughout my stories.

"You should narrow your genre down to one."
"I only want you to teach me things that are useful."
"I have no interest in you yourself or what is inside your head."

I have been told that many times by various people.

But, after writing on note, I realized something.
For example, a single rose does not make a garden.

There are leaves,
grasses,
trees,
and even "wildflowers" that might be a bit of a nuisance for the garden you want to cultivate.

Perhaps, mushrooms might even be growing quietly in the shade of the trees.

There is a garden suited for each of them.

For instance, a shade garden is a garden in the shadows.

In this garden, flowers that need sunlight, like sunflowers, cannot survive. However, lush hosta leaves and ajuga, which blooms with small blue-purple flowers, thrive here.

That is why I want to create a garden that suits each of the things I have written.

And the garden changes every day.
From winter to spring, it's like the new buds grow bigger day by day.
Or, it's like the buds of a flower I grew two years ago that withered suddenly sprout up.

That is precisely why I think the garden is enjoyable.

Until now, I have written what I wanted to write, just as I wanted to write it.
However, that has sometimes caused confusion for those who read it.

Therefore, I intend to cultivate this note like a "Botanical Library Garden".

With a garden map in hand, please feel free to walk through whichever garden you like.

I will be cultivating this from here on.
