Books and Sweets, the Perfect Marriage♡ A Slightly Different Way to Enjoy Autumn Reading
I'm Rin Kiki, and I've been wondering if autumn and books are really such a perfect match.
The phrase "autumn for reading" is a classic by now, but is autumn really the best season for reading?
There is a theory that the image of reading in autumn spread because of a Chinese poem quoted by Natsume Soseki in his novel "Sanshiro," but personally, I think autumn is number one for appetite.
So, this time, I'm going to introduce some book and sweet pairings that are perfect for reading!
A marriage of sweets and books to color your autumn reading
Mont Blanc x "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami
The sweetness of the chestnut deepens the poignant love in the story. The warmth of the Mont Blanc adds to the worldview of this book, which features many descriptions of autumn scenery, drawing you even further into the story.
Apple Pie x "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
The warm aroma of freshly baked apple pie reminds me of the pure heart of the Little Prince. Why not reclaim your inner child and immerse yourself in a world of beautiful words?
Chocolate Cake x "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie
A rich chocolate cake heightens the tension of the mystery. Racking your brain over who the culprit is while taking a bite of chocolate cake—it's an irresistible combination for mystery lovers.
Find your own unique combination and make your autumn reading even more fun!
I ended up choosing only representative novels, but I'd love to know your recommended combinations too!
Please, do give it some thought!
Sincerely, Kiki
