note de Noël Letter | Day 19 "Droplet"

I suddenly remembered the night my daughter cried.
She cried for no reason, and there was nothing I could do,
so while holding her small hand,
I just repeated, "It's okay," throughout the night.

The time spent quietly accepting
tears like droplets
strangely cleanses one's own heart as well.

When morning comes,
a smile returns to those cheeks.
In that moment, I felt as if the world
was beginning gently once again.

A droplet
resembles both a tear and a prayer.

Scooping up someone's sadness,
it eventually turns into hope.
Water that should be cold,
when it touches the heart,
gently warms up—
that is surely
proof that the feeling of caring for someone is alive.
