A child who didn't speak now speaks naturally. A summary of the growth of an ASD child at 3 years and 6 months
Thank you so much for visiting the page of a science-loving mom raising a 3-year-old son who is currently having a growth spurt in talking, and a 1-year-old daughter 😊
Making the family happy with a 【gentle face】.
I hope to share some tips on that.
Well, my son has turned 3 years and 7 months old🐭
He's already in the latter half of his 3rd year. It's scary how fast time flies...
To summarize the first half of his 3rd year, it's “He started talking!!!”.
For my son, who could only say things like “Mama” or “Take” at age 3, this has been a very, very, veeeery happy growth.
I am updating this growth record every month with the hope that it might be helpful for others who have similar anxieties,
as I myself was quite curious and researched
how a child who doesn't speak grows up,
and I hope it serves as a reference for those with similar worries...
With that thought in mind, I update it every month.
Please enjoy the hard work of my son,
who only said “Ma--- (Mama)” at age 2 ^^

How is his speech developing?
First, let's start with “talking,” which is my son's biggest challenge. “Talking”
What kind of growth has he achieved this month?
Exciting 😊
🦒 What was his biggest growth?
“Ippai nenne, ohayo, senshei dojo” (I'll sleep a lot, and when I wake up in the morning, I'll give it to the teacher!) He started connecting words to express himself.
As for this month, I can't think of any impressive phrases like the one above 💦
That's because connecting many words to have a conversation has become “everyday life”
👏
Last month, I was so moved that I remembered it, thinking, “He's become able to connect so many words to speak...!”
However, when that happens on a daily basis, you don't remember every single phrase your son has spoken, do you... haha.
It's like when you ask a couple who is always fighting, 'What do you fight about?' and they reply, 'I don't know' (that's not quite right, haha).
✏️Understanding numbers
He can exchange numbers like 'How many?' 'Two!', but he doesn't understand the sequence. (It becomes 2, 3, 5, 4, 2, 5, 7, 8, etc.)
There isn't much progress here either.
He also seems to have difficulty understanding terms like 'the two of us,' and when he wants to say 'Mom and [son] are two people,' he says
👦Mom! [Son]! Two!
Every time, I casually correct him by saying 'Two people,' but he doesn't seem to connect 'two' with 'two people'.
Japanese is difficult... lol
✏️Understanding letters
We did picture matching with hiragana cards at therapy.
It seems my son prefers 'collecting by the same pattern' rather than 'making hiragana'...
There were two sets of cards with the letter 'o' cut in half vertically, and when I showed them to my son while they were arranged in the correct 'o' order,
he combined the left and right sides of the 'o' cards to make something like a symmetrical geometric pattern and was satisfied, saying 'I did it!'😂
For my son, hiragana are the same as 'symbols' or 'patterns'.
What about daily movements?
This is a record of growth, including changing clothes, eating meals, and using the toilet.
👕Changing clothes
He can now unbutton his clothes by himself👏
Since he doesn't have many opportunities to wear clothes with buttons, I don't know his progress on this.
However, the rate at which he changes his clothes by himself in the morning has increased✨ Right now, I'd say it's about 70%?
🍽Meals
He says, "(Son's name), like veggies!" while trying his best to eat them.
This month, he started saying,"Veggies, hate! No!"😂
Where did my cute son go, who used to say "I love veggies!" even though he absolutely hated them... lol
Even so, yesterday was his favorite gratin, so
he ate the spinach, shimeji mushrooms, and onions.
There are days when he won't eat any vegetables at all, but it's a gradual process🐭
🚽Toilet
Ever since we moved, he stubbornly refuses to sit on it.
This month, there was amiracle daywhere he wore underwear for one day and managed to go the whole day without wetting them even once🌟
However, after entering nursery school in July,
he went back torefusing both the toilet and underwear🐭
Potty training isclosely linked to his mental stateafter all.
I'm eagerly waiting and hoping that he'll sit on the toilet once he gets used to nursery school.
This month's hit toys and picture books
🧸 Toy Edition
It's a little different from the one we have (it wasn't sold on Amazon), but
I was impressed that he built a fairly large course by himself with a wooden rail set like this.
I was so happy to feel his growth 🐭✨
📕 Picture Book Edition
This picture book involves finding sea creatures like flounders and octopuses that are hiding by changing their body colors, using actual photographs.
I couldn't even find the shrimpfish, but my son found it and showed it to me ^^
Since it's photos, maybe it's realistic and interesting, it was a popular picture book with both my daughter and son 🐭🌟
Summary
The past two months have been a storm of changes, with him starting new therapy at 3 years and 5 months, and a new nursery school at 3 years and 6 months.
I am a mother who is encouraged by my son, who gets used to new environments quickly and spends his time happily.
☑︎ No signs of being potty trained yet~
☑︎ No signs of remembering numbers or letters even after all this time~
I have some worries like these, but...
【Find where he has grown and communicate it specifically】
With this in mind, I, a science-major mom, hope to continue supporting his growth next month.
Thank you for reading this far.
Your likes, comments, and follows
are my encouragement 🥺
The next one is tomorrow.
I plan to send out a rare essay 🤝
Please treat me well.
