Hey, is this a two-word sentence? A summary of growth at 3 years and 3 months

Thank you so much for visiting the page of a science-loving mom who is raising a 3-year-old son who still talks very little and an 11-month-old daughter😊

-coming home-
Both adults and children return to themselves.
Being able to be your true self.

Through no+e,
I hope to share some hints for that.

Recently, I, Rike, realized once again that people have a fundamental desire to“have themselves understood.”

For children, parents take on that role.

I sincerely want to always be my son's and daughter's greatest supporter and cheerleader.

Now, my son has turned 3 years and 4 months old🐭 (Since he was born in the Year of the Rat, I'll use 🐭)

I am updating this growth record every month because I myself was quite worried and researched how a child who doesn't talk grows, andI hope it serves as a reference for moms and dads who have similar anxieties...

With that thought in mind, I am updating it every month.

Please look at the hard work of my son, who only said "Ma--- (Mama)" at age 2^^

How is his speech developing?

First, let's start with my son's biggest challenge,“speech.”

The growth record from last month was that he started responding to our questions with single words.

What kind of growth has he achieved this month?
Exciting😊

🦒What is his biggest growth?

The biggest growth this month is that he mastered the phrase“Akko-shite (Hold me).”👏

I-is this the long-awaited two-word sentence???

As a result of continuing to say, 'Can you say "Hold me"?' whenever he said 'Hold me!', he learned the whole phrase.

Hmm, I wonder if this can be called a two-word sentence?

By the way, after this, my son, who wanted to breastfeed, came up with the mysterious sentence, 'Breastfeed please?' lol

🗣How is his speech developing?

I feel like his vocabulary has increased quite a bit this past month🌟
'Squid', 'butterfly', 'dan-po-po (dandelion)', 'Buddha', 'zo (elephant)', and so on.

And, when I play nursery rhymes, he tries to sing along with a high probability!!

Well, he can barely pronounce the words, but I'm just happy he's using his voice🥺

And when the song ends, he says his name while patting his chest, appealing to me with, 'I sang it!' It's just too cute...!

There were other developments as well.

☑︎He started saying adjectives and verbs like 'big' and 'drink'.
☑︎When someone at the parenting salon said 'Let's play together,' he was able to reply with words, 'Okay!'

It was a month where I was happy to see my son's growth🌟

✏️Understanding numbers

My son was able to count in order, 'one, two, three, four' or 'two, three, four, five' (for some reason 1 or 5 is missing lol) once or twice.

But he counts in circles more often with 1 and 4 missing, like 'two, three, five, two, three...' haha

And then he suddenly says 'Five------!' and forces it to end lol

However, he does understand the number 4, as he appeals by saying 'Four! Four! Four~~!' when he realizes someone is staying behind even though he wants the four of us in the family to go out together.

And yet, poor number 4 doesn't get included in his counting. How pitiful.

How about his daily movements?

I think this is the age where they gradually start being able to do things like getting dressed, eating meals, and using the toilet on their own.

So, I'll briefly record my son's growth.

👕Getting Dressed

Whether he actually does it or not is another story, but he has become able to put on and take off all his clothes by himself👏 (Though even when he can, he doesn't do it 70% of the time.)

The current challenge is the buttons on the kindergarten uniform he'll start wearing in April.

🍽Meals

Hmm, this is a slow process.

He barely eats like a dog anymore, but he doesn't really focus on his meals. It feels like I'm doing most of the feeding.

🚽Toilet

Last month, he started wearing underwear, but quickly reverted to wearing diapers 24/7.

This month, even though he's still in diapers 24/7, he successfully peed in the toilet 👏

When he's in a good mood, he succeeds 2-3 times a day! But since kindergarten started, he's been refusing the toilet again, perhaps due to the stress of the new class.

It would be great if he were out of diapers by the time the pool opens in June, but well, it's fine if he's not... haha

🍳Helping Out

He helps out a lot, and he has finally become able to crack an egg by himself~~ 👏

By the way, when I ask, "Shall we make a rolled omelet?", he puts away all the toys he was playing with before coming to the kitchen 🌟

Hit toys and picture books this month

🧸Toys Section

Not exactly a toy, but toilet training goods.

This sheet really boosts motivation for potty training! By the way, this was a gift so I didn't know, but it costs 5,000 yen!?

I can't thank the person who gave it to me enough... Gratitude.

📕 Picture Book Section

The Jataka Tales, stories of the Buddha's past lives, are now a picture book.

The illustrations and text are easy enough for a 3-year-old to understand. It's also a great book that offers insights and lessons for adults. This picture book is what led my son to say "Buddha".

Summary

Last month, I mentioned that we were in a "plateau phase of the learning curve," but
can I consider this the start of a development phase...?

This month, with his promotion to the younger class, my son is feeling a bit emotionally unstable, so
rather than expecting growth, I want to wrap him insecurityfirst,
so he feels supported 🐒

Thank you for reading this far.

Your likes, comments, and follows
are what keep me going 🥺

I appreciate your continued support.
