Writing down my thoughts on Metrons' 4th performance, 'Pump Up Boys!'
It feels a bit late, but...
As the title suggests, I'm just going to write down some memorable scenes and lines from Metrons' 4th performance, 'Pump Up Boys!', which took place at Akasaka RED/THEATER from Wednesday, 11/30 to Sunday, 12/4.

<Synopsis>
A Super Gym opens in a town where idiots live! Wood, who is suspicious; Guy, an idiot beyond all limits; Water, who is boring; and Flat, who is a jerk, all sign up. Under the command of God, the owner of the Super Gym who says that by working together you can get ripped quickly, they try to form a team and become one, but there is a member among them who isn't aiming to be a playboy. Sugihara, a real playboy and God's classmate, also joins in, and the gym descends into chaos.
The members of the Super Gym are shaken. What are their respective motives? What is the strength of the team's bond? Will any of these men actually become playboys?

The streaming period for the final performance, which had been extended, also ended on the 11th. It went by so fast. I watched it every day on my commute. There were things I only noticed through the stream, which made it even more enjoyable.
The information was released about half a year ago.
Looking at the synopsis above, where the words 'idiot' and 'playboy' stood out, it was obvious that this would be completely different from the last one, but I was still curious about how the casting would turn out. I still can't forget the shock when it was announced a few days before the opening that KAƵMA had shaved his head for his role lol. His partner, Murakami, had tweeted in advance that 'there is an important announcement for Shizuru and Metrons,' and when I wondered what it was, it was a report that far exceeded my expectations and came from out of left field lol.
And then, the day arrived in a flash. I went to see 4 performances, starting with the Saturday matinee.
In this set, the 'P' in 'SUPER GYM' at the reception was slightly tilted, and the designs of the posters plastered here and there were exquisitely tacky... the [idiocy] was already showing from there lol.
The first to appear was God. The visual impact was so great that I couldn't help but laugh when I first saw it. Then, his first words to Guy and Wood, who came to the gym wanting to join, were 'What's up?'
(...Huh?)
This performance started with a slightly awkward conversation.
From here on out, lines with awkwardness, unnecessary expressions, and creepy expressions continued... lol
Personally, I like this one:
'The letter is kept in a tin that contained cookies with something like a red, sweet jelly in the middle.'
I wanted to say, 'You don't need to explain it in that much detail, do you? You don't need to say that, right?' lol
Also, there were parts where the tempo of the conversation was good and I liked it.
The scene where Water, Guy, and Wood meet for the first time.
Water: '...Hello.'
Guy: 'Hello!!'
Wood: 'Who are you!?'
Guy and Wood see Flat entering the gym.
Guy: 'Morning!'
Flat: 'Yo.'
Wood: 'Morning!'
Flat: 'Yo.'
Guy: 'Morning!'
Flat: 'You already said that.'
I laughed at this part every time too lol.
It wasn't just the lines; the gestures, costumes, and the videos played in between also showed the [idiocy]. Mouths hanging open while listening to someone talk, wearing practice clothes with unique color combinations...
Anyway, I laughed. There were 6 different types of idiots, and watching them was somehow refreshing, and since everyone had their highlights, I really didn't have enough eyes to see it all.
I thought it would just end with laughter, but unexpectedly, [love] and [friendship] overflowed, making me feel all warm inside...
I cried in the scene where Wood hugs Guy tightly.
Wood: 'It's like we're back in the old days...'
Guy: 'Don't say weird things! Now isn't the "old days," it's "now"!'
I felt that this line could only come from the pure-hearted Guy.
I guess that's about it.
I couldn't find the time to write it down due to work and other things, and before I knew it, more than two weeks had passed.
Even now, I still want to see those six again.
The next one isJuly 19th - 23rd, 2023 (@ Akasaka RED/THEATER).
I thought it was still a long way off, but the day will be here before I know it. I'm happy that I have something to look forward to next year.
I have no choice but to keep supporting Metrons from here on out!
