Does knowing your "strengths" make life easier?
Although my job is essentially helping students "find their strengths,"
I used to struggle with how to handle my own "strengths," which made life feel difficult.
This time, I would like to share a story about how I was saved by a CliftonStrengths expert,Mr. Kiryu.
What is CliftonStrengths?
CliftonStrengths (official name: CliftonStrengths) is an online assessment tool for discovering individual strengths and talents.
It was developed by the U.S. research company Gallup and has a history of over 50 years.
It is also used as a
self-analysis toolfor corporate training, job hunting, and career changes.
My encounter with CliftonStrengths
In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, another major "turning point" arrived...
Wondering what the true nature of this difficulty in living was,
I went on a "journey of self-discovery"
and while taking various courses and sessions,
I happened to come acrossMr. Kiryu's strengths session.
Four years have passed since I took the assessment, and my scope of activities has expanded recently.
Even though I had it assessed and interpreted, it would be a waste
not to properly utilize my precious "strengths," so I am currently in the middle of relearning them.

The true nature of the discomfort
My top five themes were
"Learner",
"Intellection",
"Ideation",
"Maximizer",
"Futuristic",
and it was a surprising result where "Strategic Thinking" dominated the top spots.
Originally,
I was aware of having a "counselor temperament" or "artist temperament"
(right-brain oriented), so
I felt a sense of discomfort.
I thought "Empathy" or "Harmony" would be higher,
and I wondered, "Was I a strategic (left-brain oriented) person...?"
I didn't know how to utilize my strengths.
After that, while relearning with Mr. Kiryu,
the interactions and influences of my themes
and how they work effectively became clear,
and I feel that life has become much easier!

Highly recommended for self-analysis!
For those taking the strengths assessment during job hunting consultations,
I tell them to deepen their understanding of both the positive and negative aspects of their "top five."
(→ Because they appear "unconsciously" for better or worse.)
I have also received comments from working professionals such as,
"If I had known this when I was a new graduate,I wouldn't have quit so soon!"
"I definitely want job seekers to take this!"
I personally feel from the bottom of my heart that "I wish I had known sooner!" and
I feel that if you can utilize it well, it leads to choosing a job that suits you.
That said, the assessment fee has also risen significantly...
For families with children who are about to start job hunting,
I would appreciate it if parents could provide support.

For those who want to know how to utilize their strengths
Mr. Kiryu works as a "Potential Excavation Producer"
providing support for corporate training and individuals.
In addition to his deep knowledge of strengths,
he organizes my "cluttered thoughts"
and shows me the path I should take, which is very helpful.
Anyway, he is incredibly kind.
In my experience, I am keenly aware that it is very important
not to just leave assessments as they are,
but to have a professional interpret them
and translate them into concrete actions.
