Chōjin Sentai Jetman, Episode 44: 'Demon Robot! Veronica'

Jealousy.
When jealousy arises within the same department, the quality of work drops.
Is that jealousy... a desire for approval? Self-actualization?
The one thing you must remove above all else when doing your job is personal feelings.
In this episode, I would like to shine a spotlight of analysis on the Vyram executives who fight for the sake of self-actualization.

If you were to obtain the ultimate weapon, what would you use it for?

The greatest demon robot in history, Veronica.

Veronica, the ultimate machine weapon created by Tranza.
The confidence is easily readable from his expression.

“Be grateful. I have prepared seats for you as well. Board Veronica and fight for me.”

The desire for approval within Tranza.
The feelings he had when he was Tran were strong... and he showed his presence within Vyram in an even more self-centered way.

In the city, people are disappearing mysteriously one after another.

And then, a giant black box appears.

Inside that black box, people tremble in fear... and their lives are taken away.

“Your bio-energy will give life to Veronica.
Be proud. Be proud that you can become the vitality of Veronica!”

Humans are sad creatures who sell out others to preserve themselves. The things Tranza does to make others acknowledge him, and Gai spending time with other women to avoid thinking about Kaori (*in the episode, he spends time on a date with two women at a pool, spending time not thinking about Kaori)—the feelings of the people being used never cross their minds.

There is no time more painful than when you are thrown into someone else's selfish time...

And thus, a god of destruction was born...

Ryu and the others head out in their Jet Machines.

“You’ve come, Jetman. Drown in a sea of blood.”

Just as Tranza said, the Jetman will face their greatest crisis against this demon that turns human emotions into its own energy...

Jet Icarus is unable to do anything and falls to the ground...

And Jet Garuda, called in for rescue, is toyed with like a plaything...

"Combine, Great Icarus!"

Ryu's voice goes unheard, and before they can even enter combination mode, Veronica grabs their arms...

The overwhelming difference in power...
The word 'defeat' flashes through Ryu and the others' minds.

"There is no music as pleasant as your screams...
This is the end, Jetman!"

A score of victory composed within Tranza.
However... the jealousy of a certain man introduces noise into the music playing within Tranza.

Radiguet, who has crossed swords with Jetman for longer than Tranza.
After a series of flashbacks, he pushes Tranza out of the pilot's seat, attempting to operate Veronica himself.

Whoever defeats Jetman will become the leader who unites Vyram.
...For the sake of his own desire for self-actualization...
Radiguet's selfish actions lead to a result that pushes Tranza's victory further away.

An opening appears in Veronica.
The Birdonic Saber pierces Veronica's throat.

Tranza is forced to make a temporary retreat.

"You fool! What unnecessary interference!
...Know your place!... Radiguet!
...I will not forgive you a second time!... Understood!?"

An overwhelming difference in power that he wants to show off to Radiguet... and to Maria and Grey as well...
And, he wants to make them acknowledge... the existence of Tranza...
Such a desire for approval leads Radiguet to suppress him with force.

...However, suppression by force only breeds resentment.

...Radiguet will come to deeply regret this later.

Repairs are completed, and Veronica appears in the city once again.

Meanwhile, Ryu and the others, who needed time to repair Jet Icarus and Jet Garuda, attempt to buy time with Tetra Boy.

...However, the difference in power is obvious...

Tetra Boy is merely being toyed with...
Veronica's overwhelming power is incomparable to any Dimensional Beast they have faced until now...

And that difference in power could not be bridged even with Jetman's strongest robot...

The finishing move, Bird Maser, does not reach Veronica...

Furthermore, the footage of the inside of Veronica that Tranza shows Ryu and the others forces them to slacken their attack even further...

"My Veronica runs on the bio-energy of humans. In other words, the more you resist, the faster their stamina will be drained. ...That's how it is."

The confusion that occurred and the opening that was created

Veronica's tentacles pierce the torso of Great Icarus.

Ryu and the others head for the escape hatch.
...However, Tranza's plan to annihilate the Jetmen does not end there.

Tranza's goal is to split the Jetmen in two...
Grinam soldiers appear before Kaori, Raita, and Ako, and...

...Tranza.

And then Kaori, Raita, and Ako are captured...

"I'll be taking these three. ...They will become energy for Veronica."
...Tranza's plan was perfect.
The 'confidence' drifting from the back of the disappearing Veronica.

The keyword for this episode is "jealousy".
When living among people, there are always moments where you feel "jealousy toward others," to a greater or lesser extent.
However, work doesn't go well if you're just jealous.
People grow by acknowledging others and being acknowledged themselves.
