Why I chose ebookjapan, and a few words of caution
As of today, there are 2,159 manga volumes on my ebookjapan bookshelf.
Whether that's a lot or a little is beside the point, but
when I think about the fact that I bought them all, I honestly find myself surprised at how much I've purchased.
The reason I chose ebookjapan.
Honestly, there isn't much of a reason.
I'm sorry, even though I gave it a title.
The first thing I bought was volume 4 of "Egawa to Nishimoto." That was in July 2017, seven years ago.
Until then, I had been dutifully buying physical books, but I finally ran out of space in my apartment and started using the digital version out of necessity.
The first things I read were "Sanzoku Diary," the "Afro Tanaka" series, the "Kaiji" series, and so on...
Manga that you might only be able to buy at a fairly large bookstore,
available anytime, anywhere.
I already loved manga as a hobby, but I became even more immersed in it after that.
So, the reason I chose ebookjapan is simply:
"It was the first one that showed up in my recommendations, so I started using it,
and since I ended up buying so many books there,
I didn't look for other options."
That's all there is to it.
However, because I am that kind of person, there are a few things I want you to be careful about when buying digital versions.
From here on, I'm being dead serious.
1. Don't buy erotica
Let me write the most important thing.
You must not buy erotica on ebookjapan.
It's not about it being overpriced or lacking a sense of realism.
I know this because I'm the one who bought it.
Yes, you "cannot delete it."
There is a delete function, but
it just moves the book to a "deleted books" folder.
If someone knows your password, they can see it.
These digital books, numbering over 2,000, which never deteriorate,
I consider them my assets.
Osamu Tezuka's manga are still being read today.
But just imagine.
The possibility that they might be passed down to my descendants in the future.
For those of you who are about to create a digital book account, absolutely do not buy erotica.
You must not let your descendants experience the trauma of accessing their ancestor's sexual preferences.
2. When buying, use PayPay and buy on the weekend.
This has really helped me out, but
just buy on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday using PayPay, and do it on the web (the site?) rather than the app.
Just by doing that, you get 30% of your PayPay points back.
Moreover, during special campaigns like summer vacation or Golden Week,
it can go up to 40%.
During some Shueisha festival, Shueisha manga were 50% off.
I get it. Once you start reading, you can't stop, right?
You end up buying them. I understand.
But please hold back and buy them when they are 30% off.
I want you to use the money you saved to discover even more manga.
3. Never look at pirated versions
This isn't a point about ebookjapan, but
living in society, there are quite a few people who don't have enough respect for the manga industry itself.
I'd like to talk about that frustration another time, but
you must never get involved with pirated versions.
Don't even think about bragging about how cheaply you read something.
You'll be punished for it.
The purchase cost is a sign of respect for the manga artists,
and gratitude to the publishers.
You must never forget that.
That's about it.
See you later.
