[Messy Parenting] Breastfeeding Part 7 🐣 ~A Savior for My Breasts Appears!~
Two months have passed since birth 🐣
I went to the city's breastfeeding consultation to see if there was any solution, but I was soundly defeated.
I decided to give up on breastfeeding and stopped the
direct breastfeeding practice I had been continuing for so long.Days of only pumping followed. This is fine, this method is fine for me and my daughter.
Even if she doesn't suck directly from my breast, as long as she drinks at least breast milk,
I can live without feeling guilty about the societal trend that breast milk is justice.
When the breast milk eventually dries up from just pumping,
that will be the end of my breastfeeding journey
I decided.
I was reaching a state of enlightenment like that 🙏
However, when I entered a nursing room while out, I saw a mom breastfeeding happily.
At a child-friendly restaurant, I saw a mom eating happily while breastfeeding with one hand using a nursing cover.
Even though I had given up on direct breastfeeding, I couldn't help but feel envious.
Why can't I do it?
Why does my daughter reject my breasts?
Crushed by feelings I had nowhere to vent, tears started to fall. It's a funny story now, but back then, I was so serious that just hearing the nursery rhyme
"Genkotsuyama no Tanuki-san"
made me cry, thinking
even the tanuki is breastfeeding
.... It was a terminal symptom 😱
While living with that mentality, I knocked on the door of a certain maternity clinic, clutching at straws.
Following the navigation, I found it was a quiet maternity clinic on a slightly elevated hill, surrounded by a bamboo forest.
It had a homey atmosphere, like a stylish grandma's house 🌸
The examination room smelled of citrus aroma and was a very comfortable space.
The midwife was in her 50s and listened to me slowly while we drank warm herbal tea.
Then she measured my daughter's weight and said,
"She is gaining weight without any problems, so whatever form it takes, your breastfeeding method is correct. You are doing a great job."
she said.
Next, she checked the condition of my breasts and gave me a massage.
This was truly a
God hand!!! ✨It felt so good, and it felt like she removed all the clogs in my breasts that had been damaged by pumping.
I actually showed her how I breastfeed, and she introduced me to posture tips and a nursing cushion recommended for my extremely flat breasts (lol), and taught me in detail about how to get the baby to latch and the timing.
Besides that, she taught me recipes for simple soups to increase breast milk volume, store-bought herbal teas, and foods that, while they might not have scientific backing, have been effective in increasing breast milk volume based on her many years of experience.
Actually, I had some resistance to going to a maternity clinic.
I had a selfish image that the famous Otonuki method was quite Spartan and anti-formula, so I was trembling, thinking I would be beaten down again this time.
However, the maternity clinic I went to was nothing like that at all; it was a truly generous and relaxing place, and it became a savior for my heart and my breasts ✨
Next time, I would like to write an article about the ins and outs of breastfeeding taught directly by that God-hand midwife
!I would be very happy if moms who are struggling with not being able to breastfeed directly or moms who are struggling with not having enough breast milk would read it ☺️
To be continued
Thank you for reading until the end ✨
I will continue to share my life as it is, which is down-to-earth and not at all glamorous, along with occasionally useful information ☺️
