Knowing your skin is knowing yourself. What I realized by studying beauty🌿
Today, before taking a bath, I washed my face at the sink🫧
I've recently started studying in earnest for the Cosmetics Certification exam📚✨
In the process, I relearned that cleansing is meant to remove oil-based impurities like makeup.
Of course, I already knew that cleansing was for removing makeup.
But when I studied it in writing,
“It’s meant to lift off oil-based impurities and clean the skin, right? So, is the water cloudy after cleansing?🤔”
I suddenly wondered.
So, I decided to scoop up the rinsed water with my hands to take a look.
And then...
It was actually cloudy😳!
It might be obvious, but it was the moment when the knowledge I studied connected with the skincare I had been doing aimlessly every day✨
I might be layering more summer makeup than I think☀️
At this time of year, I apply sunscreen in the morning, then primer, then foundation.
Furthermore, when I'm out, I reapply sunscreen and layer powder on top of that.
Come to think of it, I remember being told before,
“Oil cleansing is recommended because you often layer products that don't come off easily in the summer.”
I am currently using an oil cleanser.
As usual, I applied the cleanser, emulsified it, and rinsed it off, but there was a whitish residue left around my nose.
No matter how many times I washed it with water, it wouldn't come off.
“Could it be that I'm not washing it off properly?🤔”
Thinking that, I added just one more pump of cleanser, massaged it around my nose, and then rinsed it off.
Then, it came off cleanly this time✨
“Huh? Maybe I haven't been washing it off properly until now😳”
Reflecting on my skin recently, I also noticed that my acne has been increasing.
Of course, there isn't just one cause for acne, so I can't say for sure that cleansing is the only reason.
But perhaps not washing it off thoroughly enough might be related to my current skin condition.
It became a trigger for me to think about that🌿
Taking a good, close look at myself👀✨This is also one of the things I was able to notice because I started studying for the Cosmetics Certification.
It's not just about gaining knowledge, but using that knowledge to take a good, close look at myself.
“Is it washing off properly?”
“How is my skin condition lately?”
By focusing on such small changes, I've started to see things I hadn't noticed before.
In the past, when I got acne, I would get depressed, thinking,
“Ugh, this is the worst...⤵️”
But I'm a little different now☺️
“What could have been the cause?”
“Have I been tired lately?”
“Maybe I should try doing my skincare more carefully than usual🫧”
“Maybe I haven't been taking the time to face my own skin.”
I've started to think in ways like that.
Instead of just thinking it's “the worst” when my skin condition is bad, I use it as an opportunity to look back at my current state.
Sometimes I reflect on the fact that I haven't been taking time to face my skin.
But while doing my skincare a little more carefully than usual, I take a good, close look at my skin.
That time is also a healing time for me🫧🌿
Correct knowledge becomes a trigger for knowing yourself
📚If you open social media, a lot of information about beauty comes up.Recommended skincare, pore care, acne countermeasures...
While it's easy to get a lot of information, there is so much information overflowing that I sometimes get lost, wondering,
“Which one is correct?🤔”
That is why I started to want to learn about beauty properly myself first.
By learning correct beauty knowledge, the “why?” is born even in the skincare I had been doing aimlessly every day.
And when I observe my skin closely based on that knowledge, small changes in my skin lead to new learning✨
I feel that studying for the Cosmetics Certification isn't just about passing the exam.
By learning about beauty, I started looking at my own skin.
By looking at my own skin, I started to look back at my recent life and even my peace of mind🌿
Knowing your skin might be knowing yourself☺️
I want to continue to cherish the time I spend facing my skin while increasing my knowledge🫧✨
