[#FutureSchoolRules] How about creating a few days a year where students are left to their own initiative? [School Rule Free]
From October to before winter break, I believe many schools across the country hold various events such as school festivals and cultural festivals.
A student from my cram school also showed me photos on their tablet (the fact that it's not a printed photo or a digital camera really shows the times... haha) of them looking lively at their school festival.
The content was a dance competition between classes!
Each student and class was dancing to music while wearing costumes (full-body tights, characters from 'Kyou Kara Ore Wa!!', etc.).
The female student who showed me the video also performed a brilliant dance, and I was surprised to see a side of her that was completely different from her impression at the cram school.

As was the case with me, generally speaking, cultural festivals and sports festivals have a different background and stage than usual, so there is an aspect where everyone releases their energy and gets excited.
And when those are over, you feel a little sad, but you return to your daily life.
However, at that time, although I felt sad, there was also a part of me that felt a little relieved.
In other words,
By having a stage that is different from daily life from time to time, the value of those things increases, and by having a different stage, you can also re-examine your daily life from a new perspective.
I think that might be what it is.
Couldn't this also be said about "school rules"?
---
In many situations, when discussions about school rules become active,
"If students think about it, it's easy for things to go too far"
"There is no precedent, so we don't know what will happen"
Concerns about what will happen after revising school rules are often treated as problems, and it often doesn't progress beyond that.
Carefully discussing things before executing them is a good part of Japan, but if you only do that, there is also the side effect of things becoming deadlocked.
If there are concerns like the ones above,
How about setting and executing a few days a year as "what if we revised the school rules" days?
How about that?
If you do that, if a problem occurs, the school rule revision will not be implemented.
Also, if that happens, many people (students, teachers, etc.) will have actually seen and felt the problems, so there is the merit that complaints and dissatisfaction about not revising the school rules will be reduced.
---
One of the reasons why school rule reform does not progress is that
once changed, it is difficult to revert
is a factor.
This is a major issue when considering school rule reform from the school's perspective.
To be blunt, since school teachers are public servants, it is inevitable that the majority of them think they do not want to take responsibility.
Therefore, setting up a day like the one mentioned above would help resolve this major issue, so I think it would be highly beneficial for both the school and the students.
---
Also, another good thing about setting a 'School Rule Free' day is that
it allows students to feel the benefits of school rules.
This is also a point.
For many students, school rules have a strong impression as
"things that have existed for a long time" or "things that must be followed"
, and I think they rarely feel that they are a plus for them.
However, by thinking about and implementing school rules that they themselves have considered, I think they will realize that "even if they were decided a long time ago, there are many things that are still necessary today."
Furthermore, when creating or revising new school rules on their own, each person will naturally think about and discuss the rules, which I believe will have a positive impact on school life.
---
This time, I thought about future school rules starting from the school festival.
Since school life is a group life, some form of school rules is necessary, but I would like to create better, if not best, school rules that are not restrictive.
