The wish to change

The desire to change itself is
by no means anything special.

To a more capable self.
To a freer self.
To a place beyond current limits.

The moment one wishes for that
visits everyone's life at least once.

Perhaps it is because of that
that people can keep walking forward.

Wishing to change itself
is likely a very natural thing.

The problem lies elsewhere.

The moment you have already started moving

Looking back,
was the moment your life truly moved
when you decided to "change"?

It was not after preparations were complete,
nor after your resolve had hardened,

but before you knew it,
you could no longer turn back.

Before the reasons could be put into words,
the choice had already been made.

Has there not been at least one
such moment in your life?

Change is named after the fact

If that is the case,

perhaps we were not moved by change,

but are simply calling it "change"
after we have already started moving.

What we aimed for, and what we were drawn into

A desire for transformation points toward the future.

A better self.
An ideal form.
A place not yet reached.

However, the phenomenon known as destiny
emerges from a slightly different direction.

Not as a result of what was aimed for,
but as a point that could no longer be avoided.

More like a feeling of having been chosen,
rather than having chosen.

Not something you approach by trying to change,
but something you find yourself already caught up in.

In that place,
the momentum that could not be stopped
comes before the power of trying to 'become'.

Something that had already begun

Perhaps.

We do not move because we want to change,

but perhaps we are only trying to catch up
to something that has already begun.

If change is not an arrival,
but a phenomenon understood only in hindsight.

If that is the case.

Do people live to become something?
Or,

are they simply living while responding
to something that is already happening?

Then—

what are we
responding to as we move?
