Beyond Achieving Your Dreams
I developed a dream I didn't have a year ago, and it recently came true.
・Working with books (school librarian)
・Becoming the owner of a single-box bookstore.
・Making a ZINE and selling it at my own single-box bookstore.
Are these trivial dreams to others?
But to me, they were big dreams.
For someone like me who didn't even know what a dream was, just having a dream was a huge deal.
What is your happiness?
What makes you happy?
To end without knowing,
I don't want that.
When my children were small, I heard this song many times. These lyrics always tugged at something in my heart.
But after a while, when I returned to work, I was so busy with child-rearing and my job that I stopped thinking about it.
Now, I clearly understand that these lyrics are saying something important. I am so glad I didn't 'end without knowing.'
When I fell into depression and quit my job, I felt like I had stumbled in life, but I remembered my dreams, formed new ones, and even achieved them. My heart is trembling at the thought that something like this could happen in my life.
So, the dream has come true. What happens after that?
I thought I might feel empty once it was achieved, but the fire in my heart doesn't seem to have gone out yet.
Since my work as a school librarian is just beginning, I have to do my best to enjoy it, and I want to make another ZINE. I'm secretly thinking about using a different method next time... There is still room for improvement with the single-box bookstore, and I'd even like to try being a one-day manager (there is a system for that).
To be more specific, I want to go to Taiwan, and I want to visit the independent bookstores in distant places where I always buy things from their online stores. I want to read lots of books I love, and I want to eat lots of delicious food.
Ah, they just keep coming. I think it's fine to call all of these 'dreams.'
I will keep achieving small dreams one after another. And I won't give up on the big dreams either. As long as I keep the fire in my heart burning, I can keep dreaming and keep achieving them, no matter how old I am.
What is your happiness?
What makes you happy?
I want to keep asking myself this in my heart.
Beyond achieving your dreams...
I am still in the middle of my dream.
This time, I wrote about 'Life dreams, things I want to achieve' for the 'Everyone in the Writing Club' project.
