[Movie Review] "Asakusa Kid" was so amazing that I'm dying to watch "Kikujiro and Saki"!
I recently joined Netflix, and being super frugal, I've been frantically searching for things to watch to make sure I get my money's worth. That's how I ended up watching the movie "Asakusa Kid."
My impression after finishing it is... simply "wonderful"! What a deeply emotional story.
I found myself glued to the screen during the final act, my heart aching.
And the final scene.
I was amazed at how perfectly everything was wrapped up—I didn't know an ending could be that beautiful.
(That beautiful direction reminded me of "Titanic.")
I love stories based on the true life of Beat Takeshi.
I'm especially desperate to watch the drama "Kikujiro and Saki" again, but it's so frustrating that there's no way to watch it right now...
His father Kikujiro, his mother Saki, his older sister, his brother Masaru Kitano, and then Master Senzaburo Fukami and Takeshi's own disciples.
I'm overwhelmed by what a dramatic life these people have led. And I feel a deep sense of "human connection" in all of those relationships.
I'm not a fan of romance dramas or movies, or grotesque horror films, but these kinds of passionate, gritty human stories really get to me.
I saw "Directed and Written by Gekidan Hitori" in the end credits, and I was truly impressed by his talent.
Ahhh, anyway, I really want to watch "Kikujiro and Saki"!!!
In any case, "Asakusa Kid" was a wonderful film that I can wholeheartedly recommend!
