The Night My One-Upping Turned Into Laughter
It was a few nights ago.
After we finished dinner and bathing,
our family was each
spending time doing what we liked.
Suddenly, my husband said he wanted to listen to "COSMOS."
You know, that choral piece.
While the song was playing, I sang the soprano part,
and my husband sang the tenor part.
(What a situation. Lol)
My husband kept getting pulled into the soprano line,
so even though we were saying this and that about it,
we were enjoying various choral pieces.
To my husband, who was still getting pulled into the soprano part, I said,
"Hey, I really love the male parts! Sing it properly!!"
and, being a bit confident in my singing ability, I started to show off.
I continued.
"I really love songs that have a male lead. Male singing voices are just so good."
Then, my husband replied,
"I knoooow!"
with his voice rising at the end.
Hmph, he's good at empathizing.
After a while longer,
"You know, I wanted to try being a conductor too, but I was such a good singer that they wouldn't let me conduct."I said.
My husband's eyes widened,
"I knooooooow!!"
he said, with his voice rising even higher, and with the highest level of enthusiasm,
he jumped right on board with my one-upping.
We couldn't stop laughing.
Well, that's the end of this story.
What did you think of the story about my husband,
who completely validates my one-upping?
If there is someone around you
who keeps talking with a smug look on their face...
why not try getting through it
with the ultimate total validation of a rising-intonation "I knoooow!!"
that doesn't deny them even one millimeter?
