The character 'Fly' is cool no matter what

The final #WhatAreWeTalkingAbout catch-up week of the year.
The last thing I'll write is the 'Writing' series, which is something that really hooks those who get into it.

Previously, Megumi Tico-san (whom I secretly call my older sister in my heart) requested the character 'Fly' (飛).
Tico-san has such beautiful handwriting, so I wonder what she is talking about.

It is #nothingShortOfCrazy to talk about how to write characters to someone with beautiful handwriting, but it is a request from my dear Tico-san. I cannot let the year end without responding to it. Let's do it.

It seems there are quite a lot of people who struggle with the character 'Fly', but I don't have any particular aversion to it.
Because the character 'Fly' just has a cool shape.

First, as always, I'll try writing it without thinking about anything.

Setting aside whether or not this can be called good, I think I managed to write it.

Yeah. I compared them, and it actually looks pretty good. That's rare for me.
I think it's probably better not to brace yourself and just write it with momentum.

After all, the character 'Fly' is a kanji derived from a pictograph representing a bird spreading its wings and flying. You should just write it boldly. That definitely looks cooler.

Even so, I wondered if there were any tips, so I looked it up.

Apparently, writing the fourth stroke, the vertical line, long and centered and making the spaces on both sides of that vertical line equal are the keys.

Huh... I wonder why. Maybe it's because I'm more used to PC fonts than handwriting, but the vertically elongated 'Hi' feels a bit off... Was 'Hi' always like this? Is it just that I'm bad at writing it?

Maybe it's the pen.

It's true that with this, a longer vertical stroke looks cooler.

I heard somewhere that 'Hi' is often used as a practice subject because it contains all the 'tome' (stops), 'hane' (hooks), and 'harai' (sweeps) of calligraphy, but regardless of that, I just want to write it because it's cool. That kind of character.

Speaking of calligraphy, I feel like I often see 'Hisho' (soaring) at calligraphy exhibitions.
The character 'Sho' is also cool, isn't it?

Maybe 'Hi' and 'Sho' look cool because of the meaning of 'flapping wings' that they carry, but for some reason, I just like the shapes of these two characters.
'Hi' feels like taking off in a big way, and 'Sho' feels like flying lightly and gracefully. Yeah, I like both.

By the way, the trick to the character 'Sho' is to add contrast to the horizontal lines in the 'hitsuji' (sheep) part.

Maybe I'll do some calligraphy for the New Year for the first time in a while!
