「りくりゅうペアは常に一緒に食事をしたりだとか、足りない要素を分け合ってみたいな。そういうふうにして7年間続いているペアは、奇跡であるし、本当はそれが理想なんだと思う。ただ、現実的に難しい」と説明。
その上で「私も（木原と）食事を一緒にしたことが多かったが、ただ住んでる家も違ったので、常に一緒ではなく、アイスリンクで練習してランチだったり、練習後のディナーとかは一緒にしていたが、りくりゅうペアほど、常にではなかったです」と続けた。
The Rikuryu pair would always eat meals together, and I'd like to share the elements that were missing.
She continued, "I also ate together (with Kihara) often, but we lived in different houses so we weren't always together. We would practice at the ice rink and have lunch together, or have dinner together after practice, but it wasn't as regular as with the Rikuryu pair."

フィギュアスケート・ペアで、ソチ五輪（2014年）の日本代表だった高橋成美さん（33）は、中国語、英語に加え、フランス、スペイン、イタリア、ロシア、韓国の各語を操ります。テレビで複数の外国語を話す姿が話題になりましたが、言語習得には地道な積み重ねと、挑戦を恐れない行動力が重要だったそうです。
――最初の外国語との出会いについて教えてください。
中国語でした。小学4年生から中学2年生まで、父親の転勤で北京で暮らしました。最初に覚えた中国語の言葉は「一緒に遊ぼう」でした。友だちとの遊びを通じ、自然に覚えていきました。

Her appearances on television speaking multiple languages drew attention, but she says the key to language acquisition was steady effort and the drive to not be afraid of challenges.
-- Your first encounter with a foreign language
It was Chinese. From the fourth grade of elementary school to the second grade of junior high school, I lived in Beijing due to my father's job transfer. The first Chinese phrase I learned was "Let's play together." I became accustomed to playing with friends and naturally picked it up.
I practiced figure skating with the Chinese national team. There were about 30 of us, and I was the only foreigner. It was an environment where Chinese was not spoken.
小学校の高学年のとき、初めてフィギュアスケートで国際試合（クロアチア）に派遣され、英国のチームがとっても強く驚きました。「何を話しているのだろうか」。英語に興味を持ち、北京の日本人学校からインターナショナルスクールに、すぐに転校しました。
シンガポールやインド、香港など多国籍のクラスで、発音や文法はバラバラでした。通じれば大丈夫という雰囲気で、相手に伝えることが第一でした。話すことをやめず、間違っても臆さなかったことが習得につながりました。
