Summer Through Sound | Polar Bear Literature Club
I can hear the sounds of summer
Chirin-chirin, the chime of a wind bell
The sound of the wind blowing softly comes along with it
It reminds me of my childhood home
A nostalgic and gentle sound
Meen-min-min-min, the cry of cicadas
Their earnest singing calls forth the heat
The shadow of a clothespin, an empty shell on a tree trunk
A sound that makes me feel an even deeper sense of longing for the empty shell left behind
Hyoo-doon, the echo of fireworks
Wearing a yukata, holding hands as we looked up
My heart unravels in that fleeting sparkle
A sound that resonates deep within my chest
Zaza, zazaza, the rhythm of the tide
An afternoon spent walking with the waves while picking up shells
The sun glitters on my wet feet
A quiet and peaceful sound
The sounds of summer are right beside me
They are inside my heart
Within reach if I stretch out my hand
Even now, they are softly echoing
