On Paintings / I want to try painting this year
I really love abstract art.
It's incredibly cool to convey something through color and expression.
How did this person see the world, what did they feel, and how did they want to express it?
It's even better when the title is unexpected; “Wait, it looks so cute, but it has such a cruel title?”—when I think things like that, my imagination starts spinning, and I love that moment when I can't pull myself away from the painting.
I think I love it because it allows my imagination to expand infinitely.
That is also the reason why I am strangely drawn to the Winged Victory of Samothrace at the Louvre Museum.

Man, it's just too cool.
Because it's missing parts, it sparks the imagination and
allows me to think of infinite possibilities.
I remember when I first saw it in person, I was overwhelmed by its presence and couldn't do anything but stand there and stare. It's just cool, period.
Many people love it, don't they?
Back when I first started getting interested in art (was I in eighth grade?), I went to a museum alone for the first time in my life.
It was a museum with the kind of atmosphere I love—few people, and big paintings displayed with a bang in a wide-open space.

There, I found myself unable to move in front of a certain painting.
I remember holding my breath and being unable to look away.
This is it

This is an amazing painting, isn't it?
Plus, it's a huge painting, about 3 meters wide.
The impact is just incredible.
The use of color is amazing, and it feels warm in a way, so I could have watched it forever, losing track of time.
Since it was my first experience of its kind, this painting is somehow a precious work that holds a special place in my heart.
Honestly, I have absolutely no knowledge of art.
I often go to museums and think, “Hmm, I don't really get it.”
But I think it's okay not to understand.
It's something to feel with your senses and feelings, not your head.I think it's something to enjoy with a “vague” feeling.
So, for a while now, the desire to try painting has been growing in me.
Actually, I have a note on my phone called “Things I Like,” where I just jot down things I like that I feel in my daily life, trivial realizations, or things and events that I thought were nice. lol
It's a bit embarrassing, but
here is a part of my notes

I just feel like I want to express this in my own painting someday.
However, as someone who has never really painted before, I tried copying a painting the other day and it was just terrible... lol
I despaired and gave up at that time, but
recently someone told me this:
It's not fun because you're trying to paint well. Isn't it fine as long as you enjoy it?
I thought that was exactly right. It doesn't have to be good; it just needs to express something.
I want to express with color that small, happy feeling I get when I encounter things I like.
I want to paint things that, when I look at them later, allow me to feel the sounds and smells of that moment.
That's kind of how I feel.
So I'm going to try painting this year!
Whether I'm good or bad doesn't matter; everything is a challenge. First, I'll just try anything.
I might post them on note, but
I'd be happy if you could watch over me kindly. lol
