Cheerfulness is a Skill You Can Acquire — Polishing Your 'Positivity' Through Effort —
Cheerfulness is created by 'habits,' not by your natural personality
'I have a gloomy personality...'
Are you unconsciously giving up because you think that way?
In fact, cheerfulness is not an 'innate talent,' but askill that can be cultivated through habits.
I myself experienced being laid off and spent days feeling like I was at rock bottom, and I thought from the bottom of my heart,
'I can't be positive.'
But the reason I was able to change myself little by little was because I startedpracticing how to train my 'cheerfulness'.
Cheerfulness is a 'skill.' Anyone can acquire it
To put it simply,
cheerfulness is a skill that can be acquired through effort.
When we see people living cheerfully,
we tend to think, 'They must have a naturally cheerful personality,'
but in reality, those who have overcome difficult times are the ones who choose 'cheerfulness.'
More than your innate personality,
'the will to try to see hope in any situation' is what is important.
Cheerfulness is polished through 'resolve' and 'courage'
As you get older,
the things you carry—work, family, responsibilities, health—increase.
Naturally, your heart becomes heavier, and the number of times you smile decreases.
That is only natural.
However, what makes the difference here is 'resolve' and 'courage.'
Cheerful people do not necessarily have fewer worries.
Rather, they harbor deep conflicts within their hearts.
Even so, they have the resolve to say,
'If I have to spend the day anyway, I might as well spend it positively, whether I live it gloomily or cheerfully'
.
This is not a talent, butdaily discipline.
The practice of finding small 'good things,'
the habit of expressing gratitude,
the momentary courage to greet others with a smile.
The accumulation of these things builds 'muscles of cheerfulness.'
The 'courage to choose cheerfulness' I learned from being laid off
When I was laid off,
every day looked gray.
I had no energy even when I woke up in the morning,
and I spent my days wondering, 'What am I living for?'
But one day, I suddenly realized,
'If I keep spending my days gloomily like this, nothing will change.'
So, I decided that at the very least, 'I will take care of my own mood.'
At first, it started with small things.
・Open the window and take a deep breath when you wake up in the morning
・Write down three 'good things that happened today' at the end of the day
・Say 'thank you' with a smile when you meet people
Then, changes started to happen little by little.
My heart felt lighter, my relationships with others became warmer,
and above all, the time I spent 'blaming myself' decreased.
Cheerfulness is never about 'forcing yourself to smile,' but
'the power to search for hope.'
It is something that can be cultivated even in the midst of any adversity.
Through being laid off, I learned that firsthand.
Cheerfulness is a 'way of life'—anyone can change if they practice.
Cheerfulness is not a 'situation,' but a 'choice.'
Especially in difficult times,
the 'attitude of your heart' is put to the test.
There is no need to hide your sadness or force yourself to smile.
Just keep taking small actions to 'try to see the hope.'
For example,
• Looking up at the sky during your commute
• Saying 'thank you' out loud
• Instead of blaming yourself for a failure, telling yourself, 'You did your best'
These small, repeated actions
will eventually transform you into a 'positive person.'
Cheerfulness is proof of effort.
Those who have been hurt many times but still stand back up
possess true kindness and strength.
Those who know suffering are the ones who can create hope.
I want to say it again:
Cheerfulness is not something you are born with, but a 'strength that can be trained.'
Even if you are past 42 or 50, it is never too late.
In fact, precisely because you have gained life experience,
you have the chance to acquire true cheerfulness.
There is only one thing you can do starting today:
Begin the 'practice of finding small lights.'
That will become
the 'support activity' that illuminates you even in the deepest darkness.
Cheerfulness is 'life force' itself.
Don't push yourself, don't rush, and let's keep training a little bit each day.
Let's do some self-support activities!
