[700km Round Trip] To the Blizzard of Etchu. The Story of How I Went to Rescue Some 'Treasure' Myself.

Hello! This is Re:NISSAN from Re:Tech Japan. This time, I'm bringing you a record of a forced march from Osaka to Etchu in search of some 'treasure' I found online.

1. January 2*, Battling the Strongest Cold Wave

The 'treasure' in question is a certain set of seats. I was able to purchase them for a decent price of 50,000 yen for the left and right set, but the problem was the 'shipping cost.' Rather than paying shipping fees comparable to large furniture, it's faster (and maybe makes for a good story?) to go pick them up myself.

However, the day of the attempt was January 2*. Due to the strongest cold wave of the season starting on 1/20, the roads were closed until that very morning. Hearing the news that they had reopened, I drove my partner, a Nissan TIIDA, and headed for Hokuriku.

2. The TIIDA's Hidden Potential and the '40km/h Wall'

A 700km round trip. The journey was truly a 'world of silver.' It was a time of patience, driving behind a snowplow moving at 40km/h while unable to see ahead due to the blizzard. The TIIDA, which boasts a fuel efficiency of 16km/L, made the 700km trip on about 5,000 yen of fuel, but the highway tolls were 7,000 yen one way...

• Fuel cost: approx. 5,000 yen

• Highway tolls: approx. 14,000 yen (round trip)

• Total travel expenses: approx. 19,000 yen

Combined with the 50,000 yen for the seats, that brings the total to about 70,000 yen. If we add the 'labor costs' for the two of us, these become incredibly expensive seats... but that part is 'priceless.' In an adventure called DIY, calculating an hourly wage is unnecessary.

3. The Collapse of Food Plans and the Defeat of Souvenirs

The highlight of the trip was supposed to be 'Toyama Black Curry,' but reality is not that sweet.

• Morning: Succumbing to hunger, I finished a regular curry at a service area along the way.

• Lunch (16:00): Freed from the fear of road closures, what I finally got to eat was 'extra spicy mapo tofu.'

• Evening: The 'grilled mackerel sushi' I bought as a souvenir for my family was dismissed with, 'It would have been better if it wasn't grilled.'

It was a moment when both my stomach and the atmosphere at home felt colder than the snowy road (lol).

4. Next Mission: Transplantation to the Avenir

The 'treasure' I somehow managed to bring back safely. It appears for a split second at the end of the video, so there's no need to hide it—yes, it's the Recaro seats I've always wanted. The Lancer Evolution 7 is from around the same era as the Avenir.

Will it fit easily into my beloved Avenir (Abe-san)? It has a tricky specification where 'Mitsubishi Recaro seats have a boss on the back that requires modification.' This is where Re:Tech Japan's true potential shines.

Actually, I like mackerel sushi too. I splurged on the highest quality one to bring home, but it was so disappointing for the price that I don't even want to remember it. Changed my mind, it was delicious when I drizzled soy sauce on it the next day! I thought I wouldn't buy it next time, but next time I want to buy both that and mackerel sushi. Is Amazon too expensive?
