Reasons for Obtaining Qualifications
I am organizing this for myself, partly as a review of July.
Why do I want to obtain qualifications?
I am summarizing this so I can look back on it when I feel lost.
1. To increase my human capital (my own assets)
The goal is to increase my
* technical skills
* market value
* options
* income-generating power
. For me right now, my greatest assets are my "human capital," such as
* 7 years of experience in telecommunications maintenance
* troubleshooting ability
* on-site judgment skills
* learning experience for the Second-Class Electrician license
* taking on the challenge of the Third-Class Chief Electrical Engineer exam
.
2. To become a technician who supports social infrastructure
My goal is not to be a "standout," but a
facility maintenance technician who quietly supports society.
Telecommunications and electrical equipment are things people don't usually notice.
However,
* electricity not stopping
* communications staying connected
* servers running
—someone is needed to maintain these things we take for granted. I want to be on that side.
3. To create a synergy between electricity and IT infrastructure
I want to create rarity through combinations rather than a single skill.
My current experience:
Telecommunications maintenance
↓
Nursing care
↓
Vocational training school (👈 I am here now ✨)
↓
Electrical equipment, building maintenance
↓
Data center field
This is the flow.
Areas of particular interest:
* UPS
* High-voltage equipment
* Power receiving and transforming equipment
* PDU
* Racks
* Server power supplies
* Network equipment
I aim to be a technician who can understand the space between electricity and IT.
Electricity and facility systems are the main focus.
If I have the capacity, I will also consider AWS, Cisco-related certifications, etc.
4. To build expertise that retains value even as I age
I want to build skills that will be needed 10 or 20 years from now, not just short-term trends. Even in the AI era, the places where AI runs will still require
* power
* air conditioning
* communications
* maintenance
* troubleshooting
. I will become a technician who understands physical infrastructure.
5. Qualifications are "certificates," but I must also consider their connection to my career
What I want to gain from studying for qualifications is not just passing the exam,
and qualification allowances are just a byproduct.
Regardless of whether I pass or fail, what I gained or failed to gain in the processis what I believe will help me grow.
For example,
with the Second-Class Electrician license, I learned
* accuracy
* proceduralization
* time management
* error prevention
.
With the Chief Electrical Engineer exam, I am training
* understanding principles
* modeling
* the ability to think about "why?"
. If I have time, qualifications that enrich my life, even if unrelated to my work, might be good too.
I am genuinely happy to have passed.🈴
6. To create a state where I can design my own life
Based on past experience, I want to have the power to make my own choices rather than being swept away by my environment. To that end, my goal is to
* Build skills
* Get certified
* Maintain my health
* Understand the flow of money
and increase my options.
7. To prioritize action over broadcasting
Writing notes is not the goal in itself. My current priorities are:
1. Study
2. Acquire skills
3. Gain field experience
4. Broadcast if necessary.
Instead of sharing my progress, I will spend more time accumulating results and experience.
That said, I won't get too stressed out by investing in certifications and my career.
Recently, broadcasting had become the goal. I developed a fear of not posting.
Getting certified is not the goal, but a means to increase the options in my life.
From now on, I will value the time spent building up my skills over broadcasting.
