I wanted to be my natural self.

Why don't you take a little break
around here?

Hello. I'm RaM.

Out of all the note articles out there,
thank you so much for noticing
and reading this one.😊

Please make yourself comfortable
with a cup of coffee in hand.♪

My companion for today is
a photo of a bouquet I was suddenly given
by a senior colleague from a different department when I left my previous job.

This article is written based on a prompt
from the writing club membership
at Kotoba to Kokoku, which I am a member of.

This is the article I published last time.

It feels like a sequel to that,
but even if you haven't read that one,
you can still enjoy this content.

Today's prompt is:
"What is the meaning behind your icon?"

Please, take a look.

This is my current icon.

As I wrote in the previous article,
the creator name RaM
is not a play on my own name.

But, note is a place to weave words.

A place where I can connect with all of you through words.

Even as a beginner to social media, I understood that much, so I had a desire to include a version of myself that was closer to my true self, which I couldn't express using my name.

However, I had decided not to show my face on a platform where I would be posting, so I found myself wondering what to do.

There was a short period when I was learning about Instagram (which is now a dark history of mine), and I was told that it was good to have something that conveyed the atmosphere of the person posting. I knew that there was an option to commission an illustration on sites like Coconala, but at the time, I thought that asking for one and going through the back-and-forth communication would be a hassle, so I was back to square one.

I thought that even if I didn't show my face, a shot from behind would be fine. And since I only had an image of wanting soft colors, I searched through the photos saved on my smartphone and computer for something that looked good.

I went back to a photo my husband happened to take when I went to Hawaii about four years ago, adopted it, and edited it myself.

If I recall correctly, this was also edited using Canva.

It is a shot from behind, looking at the setting sun while standing before the vast, calm sea in a distant town, having flown through the sky and been freed from work, thinking (or so I assume, haha), 'Ah, I wish days like this could go on forever.'

The version of me in this icon is a precious image of a time when I, who was even more of a workaholic than I am now, physically distanced myself from work and various entanglements for the first time, and was able to feel the relaxed and gentle flow of time without worrying about the eyes of others, thinking that surely no one who knew me would be walking anywhere nearby.

I only knew how to work hard. I took on too much responsibility and sacrificed my own time.

I won't erase the past where that occupied my brain as if it were the most natural thing in the world, but it is also an icon of self-admonition to at least acknowledge the hard work of my past self and ensure I don't return to that state.

This is a bit of a digression, but actually, my icons for note and X are different...

When I was linking note and X, I thought I would just temporarily use an account I had mysteriously created and never used without thinking about the consequences, but when I tried to change the icon photo to make it my account for note, for some reason I couldn't change it, and I eventually gave up.

I often have opportunities to receive mini bouquets, and
I take photos of them every time I get one.

The material isn't bad, but
it's hard to understand if the name and icon aren't the same,
isn't it...

Since I reused an account that I wasn't originally using,
the username is just something random,
and I realize that, in truth,
it would have been better to properly create a new X account...
I am aware of that.

But I can't do that right now.
Because I'd rather spend time posting
than spend time on the switching process...

That was simply an excuse
that I don't have time to get things organized 🥹 lol

"What are the thoughts behind your icon?"
I tried writing about it for the #WritingClub prompt

Thank you so much
for reading until the end!

May happiness come to you
for reading this far 🍀
