🎞️ AI Images and My Story: From the Era of 'Learn by Doing'
Hello everyone!
AI Still Works here😊
This time, I've decided to change things up a bit and deliver this in a 'personal experience style'.
It's kind of like Self-Introduction Part 2, I suppose.
Recently, since I started creating AI images, I've had more opportunities to read various NOTE articles and blogs.
Reading articles about photography, composition, and video editing made me suddenly remember the old days.
This is a rambling Note I've put together☕✨
⸻
🎥 Back When I Jumped Into the World of Video
After graduating from high school, I jumped into a video production company without knowing my left from my right.
The first thing my seniors told me was...
“Learn by doing”
“Don't ask to be taught, steal the technique”
That was the kind of era it was.
Whether it was equipment or audio, they'd say,
“Read the manual thoroughly first,” and I'd be left with:
Coaxial? BNC? XLR? Balanced?
Unbalanced? Impedance?
Why is the sound distorting...
I was desperate.

🎞️ Funny Stories and My Sweat-Soaked Days as a Camera Assistant
My days as an assistant were truly filled with sweat.
Lightweight cameras like the ones today didn't exist.
Every day was a struggle with heavy cameras that you had to carry on your shoulder.
Oh, right, there's a funny story I still remember.
When a senior asked me, “How many tapes did you bring?”
I replied, “One partially used one and two new ones!”
“What do you mean by partially used”... (bitter smile)
“Oh, it's just a little bit of duct tape left.”
Well, it was a misunderstanding.

📷 Feel the Composition. And Move
Recently, there are more environments where you can learn about composition and lighting, aren't there?
Even when reading NOTE articles, there are many times I think, “I see.”
But these were the words I was taught back then:
“Don't look for the shot through the viewfinder”
“Look with both eyes and think about what you are shooting and how”
Don't use the zoom, they said...
Go until you reach the point where “if you go any further, you'll fall off a cliff,”
and only then are you allowed to use the zoom.
That was the kind of teaching it was.
So, depth of field was something for much later.

The plate is like the base you mount the camera on.
Without the plate, the tripod is useless, you know.
🧠 Even with AI Images, First You Just Have to Do It
Now, I am generating images using AI like MidJourney,
but my attitude hasn't changed.
Anyway, first, try making a lot of them.
Before worrying about prompts, just put something out there.
I feel like that “learn from experience” spirit from back then is still alive today.
⸻
💬 Finally
This time, I changed things up a bit and wrote this while mixing in my memories.
Whether you are already doing AI images or are just about to start,
I hope the importance of “just trying it out first” comes across, even if just a little.
And if you have similar experiences of sweating on set,
it would be my pleasure if you felt a sense of nostalgia.

By the way, the cover image is not AI, but
my family's beloved dog,a real Shiba Inu named "Hana". I snapped this photo because it was warm this morning.
She looks so comfortable.
My icon is the very first
AI Shiba InuI ever created.
