Creating My User Manual
Well, it's Sunday.
I was wondering what to write about, and since I'm in a bit of a tired mode this weekend and can only think of the topic of silently reading 'Kokurojo', I was in a bind, but then my friend Mizu-P was writing their own user manual.
That looks kind of fun, so I'll jump on the bandwagon!
Strengths
1. What is something you do 'without thinking' as if you were breathing?
Thinking, reflecting, and planning. Also, reading books.
2. What is something you do that others are 'surprisingly' grateful for, relative to the effort you put in?
Doing research and making plans, creating a space, improving operations, and cooking meals.
3. What is the biggest discrepancy between your self-evaluation and others' evaluation of you?
I'm often told I'm reliable, but in reality, I'm careless and lazy. However, since I'm aware of it, I'm careful not to inconvenience others by creating systems to avoid mistakes and bypass tedious tasks.
4. What is a weakness you absolutely cannot overcome?
I don't feel like I can fix being careless. Also, I'm bad at mental arithmetic.
Groups
1. Where do you prefer to sit in a large space?
I feel more at ease in a corner where I can see the whole room, or at the secretariat desk where I can grasp the whole situation and act accordingly.
2. What is the number of people for a comfortable meal?
Two, I suppose. I like talking slowly in small groups. I'm not good with large groups because I get tired trying to figure out what to talk about and when to speak.
3. Does it bother you if someone looks like they aren't having fun?
It bothers me a lot. I start wondering if I should bring up a topic or if I did something to make them uncomfortable.
4. When you are talking to someone, can you hear the conversations behind or next to you?
I can hear them, but are there people who can't? Since I started working remotely, when I went to the office for the first time in a while, I realized I couldn't concentrate because the phone calls and conversations of people nearby were coming in.
5. Can you explain three habits of your boss?
I can. I have a habit of tracing my boss's thinking, which I think probably stems from my time as a basketball team manager in high school, when I used to think about the coach's mindset.
6. Which is more comfortable for you: sitting at a counter or sitting face-to-face?
Definitely at a counter. Sitting face-to-face makes me nervous.
But even when I sit at a counter, I don't really want the staff to talk to me much.
Communication
1. Does it bother you when someone interrupts you while you are speaking?
It does. I do it unconsciously myself, so I try to be careful not to interrupt when I'm listening to others.
2. How much do you dislike being spoken to when you are immersed in something?
At work, it doesn't bother me that much, but when I'm reading a book at home, I sometimes don't respond if someone talks to me.
Actually, now that I think about it, I move my seat at the office when I want to focus, and I go to a cafe alone when I want to read a book in peace, so maybe I actually dislike it quite a bit (laughs).
3. To what extent does your attitude change when talking to someone in a position of power versus someone below you?
Hmm, I try not to change it as much as possible.
In that sense, my communication style might differ more based on how close I am to someone rather than the power dynamic.
I'm not good at talking to people I've just met, and I'm not good at closing the distance myself.
4. Do you like talking to children?
I didn't like it at all in the past; I had no idea what to talk about or how to interact with them.
Since I started raising children, I've come to think that kids are interesting, so I've grown to like talking to them reasonably well.
5. Do you frequently replace words with ones that the other person will understand?
I do that quite often.
However, I often do it in my head, and sometimes I say it to the other person, while other times I just use it to organize my own thoughts.
Desires
1. What is something you want so badly that you can't tell anyone?
I feel like I say this already, but time. Especially time alone.
I want to go on a solo trip or something like that.
2. Which do you want more: power or influence?
Influence. Power seems like a hassle, and I also believe that if you want to do something in an organization, you can do it if you have influence, even without power.
3. What do the people you envy possess?
People who have a different perspective from others, are good at putting things into words, or have the courage to speak up without hesitation.
4. When you want something, can you ask for it honestly, or can you not, or do you rephrase it?
I wonder. I feel like I've become able to ask for things more honestly compared to the past.
I was more stubborn back then than I am now (laughs).
5. To what extent do you get annoyed when you give someone something and they don't thank you?
Rather than getting annoyed, I might feel down, wondering if they didn't like it.
"Territory"
1. Does it bother you when your things are used without permission?
I think, "Just tell me first." Also, I want them to put things back where they found them.
It's not that I hate having my things used, but rather that I find it troublesome when it causes me to have to search for things or restock them.
2. If you were cheated on, who would you feel more anger toward: your partner or the person they cheated with?
The person they cheated with, I suppose.
3. How many people do you occasionally worry about regarding whether they are living their lives properly?
Maybe not many.
Just my family and a few close friends.
4. When you invite a friend over to your house, can you tolerate it if they bring another friend along without asking?
It's fine, but I wish they would tell me beforehand since I planned and prepared for it.
After writing this down
How should I put it? I realized clearly that I am a very lazy and troublesome person (laughs).
I feel a renewed sense of gratitude toward my husband, who is very accepting. Thank you for everything...
