Why the future only realizes for those who have 'implemented' their future vision
― The decisive difference between those who think and those who decide and act
(Written by: Akifumi Yasumura / Business Ability Development Co., Ltd.)
On Wednesdays, with the theme of 'human growth and awareness',
through Enneagram, coaching, and actual case studies,
we explore how people change and how their lives and work begin to move.
■ Introduction
I host a morning activity group for the Future Realization Society.
I was honestly surprised to hear a report from one of our members, who works at a mid-sized company, that they had been 'promoted three ranks to General Manager of Administration,' far exceeding the goals they had written for themselves three months ago.
Of course, it wasn't just because there happened to be a vacancy, nor was it just good luck.
In fact, he himself says, 'I didn't do anything special.'
Then, why did this happen?
For me, this event was a confirmation of the fact that
'the future realizes itself according to a certain principle.'
■ What people whose future doesn't move always do
There is a common trait among people whose future does not move.
It is that
they 'keep trying to solve problems creatively.'
Of course, creative problem-solving is important.
The ability to improve the workplace, resolve troubles, and increase efficiency is essential for an organization.
However, there is a pitfall here.
Creative problem-solving is
the power to process problems occurring in the present as an extension of the present.
In terms of the timeline,
it is 'Present → A Better Present',
and not the power to change the future itself.
No matter how talented you are,
the future will not 'jump' to a different place.
■ What people who move the future do first
On the other hand, people who move the future
do not start with 'problem-solving'.
What they do first is
make a priority decision regarding their future vision.
・Not knowing if it is the correct answer
・No guarantees
・Not visible on the current extension line
Even so,
they decide first, 'I choose this future.'
This is the turning point for everything.
■ Decision-making is not 'will' but 'structure'
Many people think of decision-making as 'spirit' or 'resolve'.
However, in reality, a decision is
an act of changing the structure.
When you decide on the future first, people unconsciously
・Information they gather
・People they associate with
・Themes they study
・Small daily judgments
begin to narrow down only to those that are consistent with that future.
This is not effort. It is a state where
options are naturally pruned and actions align naturally.
I call this phenomenon
'the present being reorganized from the future.'
■ The 'quiet change' caused by backcasting
When you place the future first,
people stop 'trying hard'.
Instead,
・Priorities become clear
・Hesitation decreases
・Small actions occur continuously
This is
not the result of 'thinking creatively',
but the result of having made a decision regarding the future.
It is just that
'they naturally stopped making choices that do not fit that future.'
Therefore, small synchronicities occur, and eventually, it appears as a 'great alignment' that matches the vision.
■ Why nothing happens to those who do not believe
Then, why does nothing happen to those who do not believe in a future vision?
The reason is simple.
・Backcasting from the future does not occur
・Options only exist on the extension of the present
As a result,
the mechanism of action itself does not occur.
What is important is the order.
It is not that they stopped believing because they failed, but
because they are not inside the mechanism,
no action is born, and nothing happens.
As long as you are in this structure,
the future realizing itself will not structurally occur.
■ Future vision is not a 'wish'
Here, I will tell you the most important point.
The morning activity for future vision realization is
not a 'wish',
not a 'dream',
and not 'motivation'.
It is a device that turns action into a mechanism.
For those who believed in the future and implemented it,
・Future → Present is reorganized
・Action is born
・Results occur
For those not in the mechanism,
・No reorganization
・No action
・No results occur
That is the only difference.
It is not a matter of mental attitude.
It is a structural fact of human cognition and action.
■ Editor's Note
The changes happening at the Future Realization Society
are not about special talent.
It happens to anyone, but
it only happens to 'those who decided and implemented it'.
Moreover, implementation is not difficult.
You just need to get inside the mechanism.
I think that is all there is to it.
■ Today's Question
Are you currently "thinking" about the future?
Or have you already "prioritized and decided" on it?
Which future is today's small choice
synchronizing with?
■ Cat's Mutterings
"They say if you chase the future, it runs away, but if you decide on it first, it comes to you."
■ Conclusion
The future does not come to those who think cleverly,
but to those who decide first and prioritize execution.
If you feel that
"something is stagnant" right now,
before trying to solve the problem,
please start by making a decision regarding the future.
That is the quietest and most certain step.
