I Feel Jealous at the Bookstore
2026/07/01 #3
One of the recent changes in my heart is that I have started to feel a sense of jealousy at bookstores, something I never felt before.
The models on the covers of magazines and photo books look so radiant.
Alongside the feeling of "they are beautiful" or "they are cool," there is also the thought, "Why am I not like this?"
It is easy to imagine that the people who grace these covers have put in the effort to earn those opportunities.
I believe I am capable of it, and I feel guilty for neglecting my own efforts.
But it is not as if I am not making any effort at all, and I wish I could have a little more confidence in myself.
Moreover, since I can only ever be myself, I feel that it is important to love myself unconditionally in order to live happily.
I feel that treating myself with care is a major first step.
Human desire to pursue ideals has no limits, but I want to live my life while managing that desire wisely.
I'm actually pretty great too, aren't I!
