💟 Episode 31: Hosei's Marriage (2) Caught in a Plan to Revive an Extinct Family
🟡 Nerve paralysis and right lower limb dysfunction immediately upon registration
🟠 Informed of the Kano family revival plan

In late January 1929, as the wedding of the bride, Fukue-san, was finally approaching, her father, Tomijiro Nakagawa, arrived at Nichiyo-in by car and stated the following (summary of main points):
Actually, my mother's family home was in Niigata Prefecture and had the surname 'Kano,' but after my mother married into the Nakagawa family, the line became extinct, and I am the only one left with the Kano family bloodline. Therefore, I have long been thinking of having Fukue revive the Kano family to establish a household, and I want Fukue to inherit the ancestral rites of the Kano family that I have been performing.
I am sorry for deciding this unilaterally without consulting you, but once Fukue revived the Kano family, she became the head of the household. When I consulted a lawyer, they said that a head of household who has revived an extinct family cannot remove their name from the register. Since you are from a branch family, I want you to abolish your household and become the husband (adopted son) of Kano Fukue.
In return, I will provide Fukue with a dowry large enough for her to live comfortably for the rest of her life on the interest alone, I will resolve the situation at Nichiyo-in (your retirement as head priest) with money, and I will give you one of the Nakagawa family's villas, so you can do whatever you like for the rest of your life.
If you want to continue being a monk, there is a temple called 'Myoshin-ji' for sale in Uradera-cho, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, so I will buy it for you. It is pitiful to marry my daughter off to a rural branch temple like Nichiyo-in!

🟠 Requesting the cancellation of the marriage
Hosei replied to Tomijiro as follows (summary of main points):
It is outrageous to carry out such procedures without permission after the wedding ceremony, and I cannot abolish the Miura family and move my registration to another family. Also, I cannot resign as the head priest of Nichiyo-in on my own. I believe my close friend (Choichi) would understand this logic from the spirit world, so I would like to cancel this marriage.
Upon hearing this, Tomijiro Nakagawa scolded Hosei severely, snapped at him, and left in a rage.
Miura Hosei, having experienced such an unexpected disaster in 1928, his 25th year (a year of bad luck in the Tsuchinoe-Tatsu year), resigned himself to it, and after finishing the Setsubun rituals and warding off the bad luck, he sought an appraisal of the Miura family genealogy in February 1929, as previously mentioned in Episode 23.
🟠 Fukue-san is five months pregnant
Later, as reported in Issue 327, around June 1929, Hosei received a recommendation from Chief Abbot Tominaga to resign as head priest and leave the priesthood. Immediately after that, Tomijiro Nakagawa suddenly came to Nichiyo-in, bowed his head low, and stated the following (summary of main points):
My daughter (Fukue) is pregnant. According to the doctor's diagnosis, she is five months along. My daughter (Fukue) says, 'The father of the child is absolutely no one but you!' If things continue like this, my daughter (Fukue) will give birth to an illegitimate child, and her whole life will be ruined. I beg you with my hands together, please reconsider and become the husband (adopted son) of the Kano family!
🟠 Hearing the spirit voice of his father, Ichijiro
Hosei thought, 'Having inherited the Miura Imperial line by my father's will, I can never become the husband (adopted son) of another family!' and when he prayed intently to his father, he was able to hear the spirit voice of his father, Ichijiro: 'The child in Fukue's womb must be Hosei's child!'
Therefore, out of consideration so that the child to be born would not be illegitimate, Hosei replied to Tomijiro Nakagawa as follows:
No matter what you say, I must continue the ancestral rites of the Miura family, and I cannot change my surname from Miura, so I will register my name in the 'Kano' family register only until the child is born and registered as a child of the Kano family. If I register as 'entering the family as a husband and becoming the head of the marriage household,' I will become the head of the household. If we divorce by mutual consent after the child is born, the child will inherit the family estate and become the head of the household, so Fukue will be able to marry anywhere after six months have passed. At that time, if she has the will to become my wife, she can then be registered into the Miura family.
🟠 Nerve paralysis and right lower limb dysfunction immediately upon registration
Tomijiro Nakagawa was finally convinced and immediately carried out the procedures on the family register, so Hosei took the Kano surname for about half a year until the child was born.
Strangely enough, the moment Hosei became the head of the Kano family and registered his name in the family register, his right leg suffered from nerve paralysis and became completely unable to move!
As previously mentioned in Episodes 25 and 26, in August of the 4th year of Showa (1929), Hosei resigned as the chief priest of Nichiyo-in Temple, moved to Juo-cho, Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, and devoted himself to the Imperial Restoration Movement.
I would like to introduce a poem composed at that time by Mr. Takagi, one of Hosei's disciples.
Enduring a leg ailment, the brave man cries out; his figure, living for the Imperial decree, is noble.
🔴 Hosei's right lower limb disability was a warning from the ancestors of the Miura family, starting with the Great Deity. Of course, being caught up in the plan to revive an extinct family line was also due to the Great Deity's plan to send his child. The reason for this will be introduced in the next episode, Episode 32.
💟 Due to the divine strategy based on the Amaterasu Omikami's child-rearing plan, when Hosei married his best friend's younger sister, he was caught up in a plan to revive an extinct family line, and the moment he registered his marriage, he suffered from nerve paralysis and became disabled in his right lower limb!
