Hyogo Prefecture: Ono Alps and Hakuundani Onsen Yupika
Hiking in the Ono Alps
The other day, I went hiking in the Ono Alps located in Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture.
The reason I wanted to go to the Ono Alps was that the hot spring "Hakuundani Onsen Yupika," located right near the trailhead, is my personal power spot and a favorite place of mine, and I had always wanted to try climbing the nearby Ono Alps someday.

The Ono Alps is a hiking course consisting of a series of small mountains, with plenty of ups and downs.
Since I have been doing more Nordic walking lately and also conditioning my body with yoga at night, I felt that I didn't get as tired as before even after hiking.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a course with particularly great views, but I really enjoyed walking and I'm glad I went.
When people talk about the Ono Alps, I think the rocky area from Iwakura Pass toward Beniyama is the popular route among hiking enthusiasts, but this time I didn't go to Beniyama; I walked a route that went as far as Soyama and then returned along almost the same path.
Honestly, even with my lack of stamina, I felt I could have walked a bit more and it left me wanting a little more, but since I also wanted to go to the hot spring and a cafe, I gave up on that due to time constraints.
Next time, I definitely want to walk a bit further.
Hakuundani Onsen Yupika
On the way back, I naturally went to my beloved Hakuundani Onsen Yupika to soothe the fatigue from my hike.
When I first visited Yupika, I felt that this was a place that was very protected and created to heal people.
The architecture is quite nice and relaxing, and the open-air bath while looking out at nature is the best!
It is such a wonderful hot spring that I envy the residents of Ono City, and since it is not a tourist destination like Arima Onsen, the admission fee is also very reasonable.
If you are in the neighborhood, please be sure to visit.
Tennen Jimi KAEMON
After Yupika, I went to get some delicious organic curry at another one of my absolute favorite cafes, Tennen Jimi KAEMON.
The curry is made by a quiet and gentle owner.
I feel that this owner is a person with good taste and excellent senses who values authenticity, from the atmosphere of the shop to the taste of the food.
It seems they also do farming, and they use home-grown, naturally cultivated ingredients in their cooking and sweets, offering things that are gentle on the body.
You can tell they are a nature-oriented person just from the bookshelf set up in the shop.
The only food they serve is organic curry, but it is truly delicious...!
I visited around 4:00 PM yesterday, and they said they could still serve curry, so I had some.

It is a set with chapati, homemade cream cheese, salad, and curry.
You can eat the chapati by dipping it in the curry, or make a pocket with the chapati and stuff it with salad and cream cheese.
The seasoning of the salad and the taste of the spiced curry are both so unique; it's a flavor you can only find here.
The organic curry made by Tennen Jimi KAEMON is my favorite curry I have ever eaten.
The inside of the shop also has a very calm atmosphere, with a warm wood stove in the winter and pleasant music playing; it is a place that truly heals the heart...
It is one of my favorite places, to the point where I think it's rare to find such a wonderful spot.
Whenever I go to the shop, I always look forward to buying scones made with home-grown, naturally cultivated wheat to eat the next morning♪
The zenzai (sweet red bean soup) made with home-grown adzuki beans also seems to be very popular, and I hope to visit again while it's still cold.
People from outside the prefecture might not have many opportunities to visit Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture, but the Jodoji Jodo-do Temple in Ono City is a wonderful temple that you should visit at least once, so I highly recommend it♪
That concludes my article about my trip to Ono City.
Thank you for reading until the end.
