They say I'm going to fail tomorrow...
Ward nurse: I am Natsuko Nichome.
A disaster drill is scheduled at my workplace tomorrow.
I will be in charge of 'failing'.
What on earth does that mean?
Take it easy today as well ☕️
I will participate in the workplace disaster drill tomorrow.
The scenario for the disaster drill changes every year.
Last year it was a 'tsunami'.
This year it is a 'fire'.
Of all things,
the ward where I work
was chosen as the location where the fire starts.
Back when I was working at a hospital (when I was younger).
During a disaster drill,
when I was in charge of shouting about the fire,
with a realistic performance,
I shouted,
'Fire!!'
When I was doing my rounds of the ward,
to the doctor who was explaining post-operative care,
"Shut up!"
I shouted.
*Afterward, the doctor was reprimanded by the firefighter*
*It seems you can't say "Shut up!" even during training*
Tomorrow
I will go to the source of the fire
and be in charge of initial fire suppression.
Wait a minute.
If the initial fire suppression is successful,
wouldn't that mean everything is over?
So, I made a suggestion.
"I never fail."
*I tried saying it like Michiko Daimon*
“In that case, it won't be a training exercise.
I need you to fail.”
So, with that said,
tomorrow,
“I will be failing.”
I'm already feeling nervous.
After all, I'm the one playing the role of the failure.
I'm in charge of messing up.
I'm going to blunder, for sure.
But since disasters
cannot be predicted,
I will fail seriously.
As for me, I'm a scaredy-cat,
With three staff members (assuming a night shift)
I wonder if we can work as planned
I'm so worried I might not be able to sleep.
Even so, the morning will come
I'll wash my face and put on makeup
Stir the natto round and round
Eat a proper breakfast
And head off to work, I suppose.
I can worry about tomorrow
when tomorrow comes.
Today, I did the "fair copy" for the haiku meeting
giving it my absolute, honest best effort.
The work that used to take half a day
was finished in two hours.
*The next haiku meeting is this Sunday*
Rejoicing that the "fair copy" was completed safely,
I told myself I did a good job
I think I'll tell them
Here is today's Kobito-chan🧚

I'm sure I can muster great strength
I have a switch for when I'm truly serious
