From 'Windows of the World' to 'Windows of the World (in local dialect!)' - Ariel's Project
Why is it that whenever I open Note, there are so many interesting projectsgoing on.
Suddenly, a "going on" (dabeka).
Yes, it's a dialect.
What's up? (What happened?)
I've found another interesting project.
Take a snapshot of the view from your window, post it in a tweet or article, and give a brief explanation in your "local dialect"!
( * No information that could identify your location is needed!)
I am, after all, in the "Camera Club"!
I take pictures from my room quite often.
And do that in a "local dialect," right!
Understood.
That said, if I may talk about dialects, as kappa-san also mentioned, it's said that we don't really have much of a dialect! Surprisingly!
Our intonation is clear, and there are many call centers here too!
I was so proud of that, and when I lived in other regions, I thought, "I don't have a dialect."
(I kept the "besa/dabesa" hidden)
but then I was told,
""~sa" you say that a lot, don't you."
Huh?
"Yesterdaysa, when I went to~sa, I met~sa and it was~sa."
I am saying it!
👆 This is Kumamoto.
Since I use it normally, I don't know how toget rid of the "sa".
When I asked a friend from the same hometown, "How do you talk
without using 'sa'?" everyone said in unison,"Yesterday..., went to~..., met~?, did~?"
Something like that.
I can't speak fluently without "sa".
The end of the sentence even turned into a question.
A friend even snapped at me, "What are you supposed to use
instead of 'sa'!"
We might not have much of a dialect, but it's hard for the speakers themselves to realize that something is actually a dialect!
I asked Google-san.
・"Gomi nagete" (throw away the trash) is famous, isn't it.
・"Bakuru" (to exchange)
・"Kowai" (tired)
・Bokko (stick)
・Shakkoi (cold)
・Shibareru (to be freezing)
・Bokko tebukuro (mittens)
I am aware of at least this much.
But I use them every day.
Are these also???
・Yorikakaru (to lean on)
・Urukasu (to soak rice in water, to soak dishes after eating)
・Kikanai (naughty, mischievous)
・Darazen (small change)
・Bancha (roasted green tea)
・Aotan (bruise)
・Oyaki (Imagawa-yaki, Oban-yaki)
Huh? Are these not standard Japanese!
Shocking!
I didn't know and thought they were used nationwide.
And, words that cannot be explained by other terms are
・Odatsu
・Izui
Words I repeat even if they are dialect are
・Nanmo
・Waya
・Shittakke
When I was in junior high school, it was even worse.
The trend of 'Namara'.
Sometimes it's used as 'Namara nemui' (really sleepy), but
That guy is annoying = 'That guy is namara' = 'Namara!'
Constantly abbreviating.
(It is not used much nowadays. Compared to before, that is.)
When I was away from here for a while, I realized that '~besa' and '~dabesa' were dangerous, but as soon as I returned, it was all over.
I have no confidence that I can speak without using them.
And, I quite like answering 'Nanmo dayo~' when someone thanks me.
'Nanmo, nanmo'
It's warm, isn't it? Somehow.
I didn't want to specify the region too much, so I made it very vague. (?)
Shittakke, about the photossane.
I was just taking pictures ofclouds and mountains.

Following kappa's example, I'll try speaking a little beka.
Since my apartment is on the second floor, I only take pictures of the mountains and the sky. It's finally
gotten warmer, so I've turned off the fire in the stove.
While talking at the 'Dream Consultation Room' the other day, the topic of winter heating in Hokkaido came up, and I was asked, 'People in Hokkaido keep their stoves on all night, right?' (I wonder if they said 'right?').
At my parents' house, we do leave it on on days when it's extremely freezing cold, but otherwise, when I mentioned draining the water, I got the shocking question, 'What do you mean by draining the water?'
After all, the news says, 'Tomorrow morning will be freezing cold. Please be careful of frozen water pipes.'
As I wrote that, I realized that this news might be local too!
Note: Draining the water means emptying the water pipes so they don't freeze.
Generally, the standard is to drain all the water and close the main valve.
It's a must when leaving the house for a long time! In some harsh places, people drain it when they leave in the morning and before going to bed.
It really is cold here in winter. It
freezes.
In my area, the outside air is painful now.
It has gotten much warmer now, but in the past, my bangs, eyebrows, eyelashes, and nose hair would freeze while walking to school.
Even though it's like that outside, we are the type who can't stand it when it's cold inside the house.
Some people even eat ice cream in their rooms wearing short sleeves.
Even if not in short sleeves, people here eat ice cream even in the dead of winter.
If you ask me if it's cool in the summer, it's absolutely not.
Last year, it stayed around 35 degrees.
Air conditioning is also becoming a necessity.
It turns out I didn't say I would turn on the AC either.
I will also turn on the AC.
It's cold in winter and hot in summer.
It's already a mess.
By the way, waya is also a convenient term.
It's used just like 'chaos'.
I got carried away and wrote too much.
Today's conversation
'It's still cold isn't it.'
'I still lit the fire this morning.'
'They said it would be a bit warmer starting tomorrow, didn't they.'
How much am I using a dialect?
How is it?
I bolded the parts where I thought I might be using a dialect.
I'm not sure if it's correct.
Food topics also seem fun.
Maybe I'll try writing about that someday.

As mentioned earlier,
'Dream☆Consultation Room'
I'll be holding another chat session in May.
This time, I want everyone to talk about their 'favorite books'.
I'm very curious about what kind of books everyone likes.
I haven't chosen 'that one book' yet, though...
For those who feel uncomfortable about having to talk at a chat session, why not come and peek in as a 'listener only'?
You are very welcome!
Of course, we'll be chatting and having a great time!
They are such wonderful friends, so you can spend a fun time in a warm and fuzzy atmosphere!
Please see here for details.👇
