[SS Recruitment!] Shun-hai Relay Novel [Ki] Story
Hello everyone.
Minna no Haiku Taikai [Shun-hai] Official Event
The 'Shun-hai Relay Novel Recruitment' begins now.
This relay novel is the story that will serve as the basis for the lyrics of the Shun-hai end roll.
Following the Shun-hai opening, we will connect the story to the ending.
We are recruiting for the three stories of [Sho], [Ten], and [Ketsu] in a relay format.
The theme is 'We'll always be together'.
And it must be a 'happy ending'.
*You don't have to be too bound by the theme; feel free to be creative.
For detailed information and the schedule, please check the 'Application Guidelines' below the [Ki] story.
*End roll song image sample released!!
Now, I will post the [Ki] story.
There are 3 types, so please choose the one you like.
At that time, please make it clear which work [A], [B], or [C] you have chosen.
* For any relay, please use a text-based format. (Novel of about 100-2000 characters *Haiku, Senryu, Tanka, poems, lyrics, etc. are OK👌 Anything created with text is fine)
Ki Story [A]/PJ 4-line verse (approx. 50 characters)
Summer when I remember the days gone by, your smile
Where does the south wind take you?
Shining sea, tears of rain from a cumulonimbus cloud
Is the summer we vowed to be together just a memory?
Ki Story [B]/PJ approx. 100 characters
The wind blows through, and the sun beats down on my skin.
It seems it will be a heatwave this year.
I wanted to go to the sea.
The sparkling sea and the large, white cumulonimbus cloud floating on the horizon.
Summer is coming.
A summer I will never forget for the rest of my life.
Ki Story [C]/PJ approx. 1700 characters
A pure white cumulonimbus cloud rising in the distance.
The sea surface sparkling as if repelling the July sun.
Transparent waves lapping quietly against the white sandy beach.
At the water's edge, I saw your back, barefoot.
I called your name on the beach, but you didn't move, facing that dazzling horizon.
I went to the edge of the waves and looked at the horizon just like you.
A long time ago, the teacher said.
'The reason cumulonimbus clouds with clear outlines rise in the summer is because the sea surface is heated, and air containing a lot of water vapor rises.'
How long ago was that?
The wind shook your sailor suit skirt, which had become shorter since you became a high school student. I saw your bare white legs and instinctively looked away. I thought you might say something, but you stayed in the same posture as before, your back straight, facing straight ahead.
Ripples were lapping gently against your small, white, bare feet.
The cry of seagulls, the humid wind stroking my cheeks, the sound of small, quiet waves.
Among the many islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea. A small beach on a small island.
In the gap between the quiet sounds of the seaside, I felt like you said something to me.
Watching you facing the horizon straight without moving, I thought I must have just misheard the cry of a seagull or something as your voice.
The waves get a little stronger. I stepped back two steps so the waves wouldn't get on my shoes.
'Hey, come over here,' I heard your voice clearly in the gap of the sound of the waves this time.
I hurriedly took off my shoes and socks and headed to your side. The moment I stepped from the hot sandy beach onto the wet sand, I let out a voice, 'Cold!' You turned around for a moment, narrowed your eyes, and smiled a little.
At that lonely smile, I remember the days I spent with you. Many scenes flash through my mind like a flashback.
I go to your side and steal a glance at your profile. Your eyes were looking straight at the horizon.
I also looked straight at the horizon just like you.
How many times have we stared at the horizon like this without saying anything?
When a friend moved away from this island, when the teacher I loved was transferred, when my house was half-destroyed by a typhoon, when your father went missing while fishing.
The next day, we would stare at the sea like this.
No matter what day it was after, the calm sea, which only made small ripples, would quietly lap and pull back as if nothing had happened.
And now, when your mother has decided to take you and return to her parents' home far away from here...
'Hey, shall I guess what you're thinking now?'
You said that and continued without waiting for my reply.
'The past. And then, about me.'
That's how you always guess what I'm thinking.
'Yeah.'
Even when I replied like that, you were still just staring straight at the horizon.
'Hey,' you said, pointing straight at the horizon with your right hand, 'I wonder if this is the direction of tomorrow?' you asked me.
Your profile was illuminated by the shining sea, and your outline shone white as if melting into the atmosphere.
Your eyes seemed to be looking even further beyond the horizon at the tip of your finger.
'Ah, yeah. Maybe, surely that's right.'
I actually wanted to deny those words, but looking at your empty eyes, I could only answer that way in the end.
The wind blows through, shaking your soft hair that reaches your shoulders.
'The summer seasonal wind blows from the south. It is weaker than the northern seasonal wind in winter, but this is called the south wind.'
I remember the teacher's words. Is this wind shaking your hair also blowing from the far end of the south?
You turned around, flipping your skirt, and faced me.
'Look, what kind of face are you making? Make sure you come to see me off!'
Saying that, you grabbed your shoes and ran toward the port.
There was your usual smile on your face. I see off your back. I knew that smile was a bluff.
I look at the horizon again. Under that big cumulonimbus cloud, there must be an intense squall falling.
Under the blinding July sun, I stood there feeling like I was being hit by rain alone, remembering your smile.

Oh, by the way, I also wrote an example: [Seasonal Cup Story Development].
You can use it as a reference, or it might give you preconceived notions if you read it, so I'll leave it up to you whether to look at it or not!
If no one joins, I'll just make the sequel myself! 😂
