A Bedtime Word for February 8, 2026 | How to Quietly Affirm and End a Day Where You Did Nothing | Things I Accomplished Today | Counseling and Coaching
On nights when you feel like you didn't do anything today, your mind can easily become restless. But it's not like nothing really happened. You woke up, spent your time, and finished the day. That alone makes the day complete.
Even if you didn't accomplish anything, the time you existed doesn't disappear. Let's close out the day without assigning it a grade.
It's time to say goodnight now. Let's keep going together starting tomorrow♪

I want to cherish that fact♪
Even if I do something, if I don't get the results I wanted or can't do things as originally planned, I end up thinking, 'I couldn't do anything today' (´д`;)
✨️Things I accomplished today
💫Morning routine
・Participated in the 'One-Minute Morning Journal' hosted by Hiroyuki Miyake.
💫Books I read today
・[Audible] The Brain That Acts Immediately (Author: Michihito Sugawara)
As planned, I went for an in-person counseling session today. Well, judging by how it went, it ended up being closer to coaching. My state was also reasonably high.
The counseling venue I headed to today was a regular home in the city with an attached counseling room, and the counselors were a man and a woman (*not a married couple).
Roughly speaking, the content we covered today felt like: 1) an explanation of counseling, including confidentiality; 2) confirming the purpose of receiving counseling and what kind of feedback (or state of mind) would signify that the purpose had been achieved; 3) confirming and verbalizing the current situation; and 4) validation and feedback. (This is just a rough summary, so it may not be exact.)
While it is basic, they properly listened to and examined what I (the client) had to say, repeated it back to deepen their understanding, and accurately grasped the current issues. Thanks to that, I was able to talk while organizing my thoughts, and it became easier for alternative approaches and mitigation plans for my worries to come to mind.
In conclusion, it was good to have the session in person rather than over Zoom, as I could feel the warmth of the counselors. My thinking became clear, and the path forward and what I need to do have been determined. Perhaps (or maybe not even perhaps), I already knew what I needed to do, and I was just lost because I hadn't organized those things (*ノω・*)
In Japan, the image of counseling might be strongly associated with 'a place for people who are mentally exhausted, ill (such as with depression or bipolar disorder), or whose hearts are broken,' but in the US, many people go not because they are 'in trouble,' but to 'get things in order' for minor mental health issues or relationship concerns. So, it feels more like going for 'regular mental maintenance.'
Recently, the presence of corporate coaching, mental coaches, industrial counselors, and school counselors has been increasing in Japan, but I still think we haven't quite caught up to the US in terms of awareness. Well, since it's being covered in dramas and the like, it's probably gradually permeating society.
Both coaching and counseling may look like just having a conversation, but they are actually quite deep.
'People who listen for free' take no responsibility.
'People who are paid' take responsibility.
No immediate effect does not mean low value.
It has a delayed effect and high sustainability.
Low price does not mean kind.
In fact, it is often dangerous.
The price of coaching is
the price of the resolve to handle important parts of life together
This counseling session was 7,000 yen for 60 minutes (actually about 70 minutes).
Whether you see this as expensive or cheap is up to you.
By the way, I thought it was cheap. I believe it was worth about double that.
Both of them also said, "I started out doing it for free, but halfway through, I felt it wasn't worth the effort, so I decided to start charging."
I intend to dig deeper into this area if I have time (*´ω`*)
(And so, the things I want to do keep piling up... (´д`;) )

Finally, a very important word
"I will change your life" Rather than someone who says that, someone who can say
"Let's think about it together" is,
as a result, more likely to actually change your life.
The fact that you have doubts up to this point is a
healthy professional sense.

I created this place as
"a place where you, who are lost, can return with peace of mind."
There is no need to rush.
There is no need to compare.
At your own pace, it is okay.
When your heart is at peace, life will start moving again.
I would be happy if I could quietly stand by you in that step.
