※ This note is a practical series for businessmen in their 30s and 40s who are worried about "wanting to keep learning even when busy" and "wanting to connect knowledge to action," based on the AI x self-authored business book "10 Business Principles Starting from Questions: A Reading Method to Train Thinking Skills in the AI Era."

Question: "How can the quality of decision-making be improved?"
"Why is decision-making delayed?"
"I have to make a decision, but I just can't help but hesitate."
"There are options, but I can't narrow it down to one."
Don't you ever feel this way?
The reason it takes us time to "make a decision" is not just because of a lack of information or lack of confidence.
not just because of a lack of information or lack of confidence.
The instinctive emotion of "not wanting to fail" is what slows down the speed and quality of decision-making.
However, in modern business,
"Slow decision-making = opportunity loss."
That is precisely why
"principles for making high-quality decisions at an appropriate speed" are required.
Why: Why is high-quality decision-making necessary?
In business, it is almost never the case that you can make a judgment in a "state where all information is available."
Decision-making is "a move made amidst uncertainty." This is the premise.
"High-quality decision-making" means
"being able to make the move that seems best at that point without hesitation."
It is not about aiming for perfection.
Rather,
"the ability to make decisions while adjusting as you go" is more important.
✅ Rather than perfectionism that cannot move
✅ Executionism that can adjust while moving
This is the form of decision-making required in business today.
Principle: Have a "frame" for decision-making
In order to make high-quality decisions,
having "your own decision-making frame" is the key.
If you have this frame,
the criteria for "what should be prioritized" are decided in advance,
and you can reduce the root cause of hesitation.
For example:
Is this decision for "short-term profit" or "long-term profit"?
Is this decision for 'defense' or 'offense'?
Is this decision for 'myself' or the 'organization'?
✅ By deciding these 'axes' in advance,
you can eliminate the hesitation of 'what should I base this on?' in the moment.
📝 Practical Advice
I will introduce 'practical steps' for making high-quality decisions.
✅ 1. Create a 'Decision Criteria List'
→ Write down the three values you prioritize. Example: Profitability / Reliability / Speed
By visualizing 'what values you want to prioritize' on a daily basis, you will have less hesitation.
'What values do you want to prioritize?'
By visualizing this daily, you will have less hesitation.
✅ 2. Reflect on past 'successful decisions'
What criteria did you use to decide at that time?
Are those criteria still valid today?
'Past success patterns' are the seeds of your own unique decision-making rules.
✅ 3. 'Practice' with small decisions
Start the habit of deciding 'which one?' immediately,
starting with choosing a lunch menu or a means of transportation.
The habit of making quick, small decisions
trains your 'decision-making muscle'.
👀 From here on:
✅ An experiment where I actually threw the 'chapter-end questions' at AI
✅ Examples of AI responses
✅ Insights and action guidelines from those answers
I will reveal these.
Let's experience objectifying your 'own decision-making patterns' together with AI from here.
[Chapter-End Questions]
1️⃣ What are the 'values you absolutely cannot compromise'?
2️⃣ In what situations have you 'hesitated too much and regretted the decision' in the past?
3️⃣ Conversely, what patterns were there in 'experiences where you decided quickly and it went well'?
👉 Ask AI these questions to gain an objective perspective on your own tendencies.
→ Let's analyze your "decision-making patterns" using the AI reading method!
【Questions for AI】
This time, I asked the AI the following three questions.
1️⃣ What are the values I absolutely cannot compromise on?
2️⃣ What kind of situations in the past involved decisions I regretted because I hesitated too much?
3️⃣ Conversely, what patterns existed in experiences where I made quick decisions that turned out well?
【AI's Answers and My Realizations】
✅ Question 1: "What are the values I absolutely cannot compromise on?"
AI's answer:
"The values you prioritize in your decision-making are summarized as 'reliability,' 'sense of speed,' and 'results-oriented.' You prioritize 'reliability' above all else, and it appears you have a strong tendency to choose options that avoid the risk of damaging that trust."
→ My realization after receiving this answer:
"Indeed... the axis of 'not losing trust' is at the root of my judgments. But perhaps because of that, I tended to lean toward 'safe decisions.'"
👉 Decisions that "take on challenges while maintaining reliability" I decided to make this my next action guideline.
✅ Question 2: "What are the decisions I regretted because I hesitated too much?"
AI's answer:
"Based on your past history and tendencies, 'experiences where you hesitated to take on a new role' apply here. In the background of that hesitation was the anxiety of 'what if I fail,' and a pattern of missing opportunities as a result can be seen."
→ My realization after receiving this answer:
"…That anxiety back then of 'it would be tough if I did it,' looking back now, I was just 'stopping myself.'"
👉 Next time, I decided to switch from "scary -> don't do it" to "scary -> try it on a small scale."
✅ Question 3: "What are the patterns in experiences where I made quick decisions that turned out well?"
AI's answer:
“Intuitive judgment based on similar past cases” is common in situations where you have succeeded through quick decisions.
In other words, in areas where you have accumulated experience, quick decisions tend to work with a high probability.”
→ My realization after receiving this answer:
“It’s true... the times my intuition is right are only when I’ve done something many times.
I find myself suddenly feeling anxious in unknown fields.”
👉 “Gather information for unknown fields, go with intuition for known fields”
I decided to create my own “decision-making strategy rules.”
✨ [Summary of AI Experiment]
By posing questions to the AI:
✅ “My decision-making patterns”
✅ “Unconscious priorities”
✅ “The background of hesitation and anxiety”
have become visible.
Questions that would just flow by if I were only reading are now
feeling like they are being “drawn into my own thoughts” through brainstorming with the AI.
To train your decision-making ability,
the first step is to know “your own habits.”
That is the realization I gained from this experiment.
👉 I will continue the “Self-Authored Business Book x AI Reading Method” experiment next time as well.
