Recommended Zoom Settings

I conduct training sessions about 150 days a year, and 80% of those are presentations via Zoom. Because understanding Zoom's features leads to better training performance, I have learned a lot about them. Additionally, training sessions themed around "telework communication" and "online business negotiations" have been increasing.

Based on the latest version (5.7.3) as of now, I would like to introduce some changes from the default settings.

Video Settings

Touch up my appearance (or "Apply video filters" on Mac): This allows you to smooth out your facial skin tone. Unlike photo apps, even at the maximum setting, it provides a natural correction that improves your impression.

Adjust for low light: This allows you to adjust your face to appear brighter. When I am presenting, I use a desk lamp to provide sufficient light, so I have it set to "Auto." If you are in a dark place, switch from Auto to Manual and move the bar to adjust the intensity.

49 participants: Depending on your PC's specifications, this may not be displayed for some users. Switch to this when dealing with more than 26 participants.

Audio Settings

Suppress background noise: The default is "Auto," but if there is a lot of ambient noise or if you are typing, set it to "High."

Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting: This allows you to hear audio automatically when you enter a Zoom meeting.

Mute my microphone when joining a meeting: This prevents others from hearing unnecessary voices or sounds when you join.

Screen Sharing Settings

Screenshot 2021-07-27 6.57.18

Window size when sharing screen: By selecting "Maintain current size," you prevent the screen from being forced into full-screen mode when a screen is shared.

Side-by-side mode: This prevents materials from overlapping with participants when a screen is shared.

Please note that "Side-by-side mode" is a feature for when someone else shares their screen, and it cannot be used when you are the one sharing your screen.

If you have any other recommended settings, please let me know in the comments section!
