She's already being hit on while I'm buying shaved ice.

Summer festival
Hair styled for the fair
Nape of her neck visible in her yukata
Loose strands swaying

“Hey, one Blue Hawaii, coming right up!” I say,
deliberately calling out loudly as I hand her the shaved ice.
The two men walk away, realizing she has a boyfriend.

“I was just heading over to see Sota when those guys started talking to me,”
she says... with a playful wink, no less.
You could at least pretend to look a little troubled, I think to myself.

“Blue Hawaii, coming up!” I say again, handing it to her.
The cold ice brushes against my hand and spills over.
“Um... you know, I think I’ll go with the strawberry one instead. Can I change it?”

That’s just how she is.
Miyu loves to act indecisive, comparing her options at the last minute before
switching.
Yeah, that’s exactly how she is.

Having finished the Blue Hawaii syrup myself, I
stuck out my tongue and showed her.
“Ew, Sota, you look like a zombie.”
Miyu laughs when she sees my bright blue tongue.
There is a bit of red ice on Miyu’s lips.

When I reached out to wipe it away,
the ice slipped and turned into a droplet, trickling down.
It was such a small thing, yet it made me think of the warmth radiating from Miyu’s skin.
The scent of strawberry mixed with sugar danced lazily at the tip of my nose.

“We need to find a spot to watch the fireworks.”
Miyu stands up as if to escape.
There’s still some time before the show starts.
We could walk slowly, but...
“It looks like there are fewer people this way,”
she says, turning back, and I
press my blue-stained lips against the nape of her neck.

“I want to taste the strawberry flavor, too.”

I let the booming sounds overhead wash over me.
The colors of the fireworks didn't even register in my eyes.
