Buddhist Image Tracing Club Work No. 5: 'Konkai-Komyoji Temple Amida Nyorai Goko Shii-zo'
Club President Himashun recently traveled to Nara and Kyoto.
Please take a look at this travel report, woven together by the President's humanity, extensive knowledge, and legendary drinking capacity.
A photo of the Amida Nyorai Goko Shii-zo at Konkai-Komyoji Temple that appears in the article.
How adorable, that helmet-like snail-shell hair.

To save all living things, the Buddha made forty-eight vows and spent such an unimaginably long time (five kalpas) in deep contemplation that he didn't even have time for a haircut, causing his snail-shell hair to grow out.
It must be so heavy, but I am truly grateful.
I want to trace this Buddha!
President Himashun, as always, kindly gave me permission.
This is my first stone Buddha.
How should I go about capturing the texture of stone?
I used a 0.05 graphic pen and just kept dotting away.
The wicked thought of just using a pencil for the shadows crossed my mind for a second—no, to be honest, it crossed my mind many times—but the Goko Shii-zo endured for five kalpas, so it would be unforgivable for me to give up after just a few hours.
Dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot...
And so, it was completed.
More like sand than stone?

Still, it's cute.
I'm glad I drew it.
And as I stare at this charming snail-shell hair...

I think anyone would think of this.
Bubble wrap (official name: air-cushioned packaging material)

If I paint this with ink and press it onto paper, couldn't I make the head of the Goko Shii-zo?

Now, for the stone body, should I dab it with a sponge?

Then, make a copy of the drawing and cut it out.

Apologize by saying 'I'm sorry!', and separate the head from the body.

Shape the head by dabbing it with bubble wrap, and the body by dabbing it with a sponge.

Add lines with ink and create shading.
Look, it's done.

Will it be Tsukifune-san who draws the next Amida Nyorai Goko Shii-zo?
Tsukifune-san always adds wonderful tanka poems, so everyone, please look forward to it.

How is it, Club President Himashun?
Will the Buddha still not be angry with me?
If it seems okay, please go ahead.
