The Origin of My Kimono Remakes👘
Good morning☺️
Thank you for always reading my posts🙌
I am filled with gratitude for your likes, follows, comments, and for adding my posts to your magazines♪

Over 15 years ago... or perhaps even longer...
I had been making clothes for nearly half a century with my partner, an industrial sewing machine.
After my husband passed away, and a few years later my mother-in-law passed away, many kimonos👘 were left behind as keepsakes.
I gave some away to others because it felt like a waste to just let them sit there, but
at one point...
A friend nearby invited me to a shop that sells kimono remakes.
She told me she unpicks and washes the kimonos herself before taking them to the shop to have them remade.
As I gazed at thekimono remake piecesin that shop,
“I could make clothes like these myself.”
That thought welled up inside me.
And the first piece I tried to make when I started kimono remaking was
a dress made from amagnificent black tomesodethat my mother-in-law had left behind.
It was just around the time my eldest son was about to get married, so...
Even though I was nervous about cutting into it, I cut the front bodice pieces one by one, right and left, so that the pattern would flow from right to left
and connect seamlessly...
(I usually cut with the fabric right sides together)
or so I intended.
However, the pattern on the most important front bodice was cut with the right and left sides reversed, so the pattern didn't match up🤣
I had overthought it and ended up cutting it wrong💦
It was supposed to have the pattern flowing like a river... but there was no fabric left.

I thought others probably wouldn't notice, so I wore it as is😅
This is a failed piece that only I know about😅
It became a very memorable piece in a different sense.
I feel like this was theoriginof my kimono remaking👘 journey.
Perseverance prevailsis a saying that has always been with me,
and my daily posting streak is almost at three years now.
- To keep going
This is my strength...that's what I've been thinking
By continuing, sometimes you eventually see something...
That's the thought with which I am posting.

Almost at 1000 days💕
I'm pretty sure I wrote a similar article a long time ago too🤭
When you write every day, things like that happen too~🤣
