Baths are wonderful
I am personally going through a hot spring boom.
It started about two weeks ago.
It was when I went back to my mother's hometown in Kagoshima.
There is a footbath at Kagoshima Airport,
and although I had been curious about it, I had never used it.
But this time, since I had some extra time,
I finally decided to try the footbath.
I only soaked for about 10 minutes, but even after getting out of the water and while on the plane, my feet stayed warm and felt great.
Perhaps because of that, my mind also felt relaxed.
I found myself fast asleep on the plane.
What a relaxing effect!
I was surprised by the power of the footbath.

Since returning from Kagoshima, I have been going to a day-trip hot spring about 30 minutes away by car from time to time.
Bathing at home is nice, but I really feel that hot springs are on a different level.
They warm you to the core, the warmth lasts a long time, you get a pleasant sense of fatigue, and you can heal by looking at the beautiful mountains from the open-air bath; it is the best.
Recently, I have figured out my own tips for soaking in hot springs for longer, so I am enjoying them even more.

Hot springs are great, but baths are also great!
An incident that made me realize the importance of baths
When I was in my 20s and already working as a nurse, there was a time when my lower back felt heavy and painful.
At the chiropractic clinic I went to at that time,
I was asked, "This back pain is coming from being cold. Are you taking proper baths?"
At the time, I was living alone, and since it was a hassle, I didn't fill the tub and just took showers every day.
Because of that, my body got cold, and it seems it affected my lower back.
Not a doctor's poor health, but a nurse's poor health.
I changed my ways, started properly filling the tub to take baths, and my back pain was successfully resolved.
Bath salts I have been using for the past few years
For my baths at home recently, I have been adding Epsom salts or magnesium chloride.
I started doing this several years ago when I was learning about molecular nutrition at the clinic where I worked at the time.
The purpose is to absorb magnesium through the skin (transdermal absorption).
I learned through studying molecular nutrition that magnesium is an amazing substance that affects many parts of the body!
Setting the theoretical side aside, I also feel the effects in my own body.
What I feel most is that the warmth after bathing lasts longer.
I once gave some as a gift to my father, and he seemed to like it, saying,
I sleep well when I use this bath salt,
and he still occasionally requests that I send him some.
So, I have written a few stories related to baths, but
what I really want to say is,
Baths are the best! Hot springs are the best!
that is all.
I believe that bathing has a significant impact on the body and mind.
It is a waste not to use the wonderful tool that is a bathtub when it is so close at hand.
In the cold season ahead, the warmth of a bath will feel even more appreciated.
Let's take care of our minds and bodies with daily baths ^ ^
