A temporary solo assignment. My little castle has been built
🌱 There is an option called a solo assignment 🌱
When the topic of a job transfer came up, the first thing that crossed my mind was
“The commute is going to take quite a while...”
But, the next moment.
——Wait?
My children are already working adults.
Even if I’m not here every day, won’t this house run just fine?
There is also the option of a solo assignment near the office.
When I thought of that,
I couldn't help but grin.
Living alone for the first time in my life.
And, it’s for a limited time.
I found myself thinking that this might actually be... fun.
And so, I talked to my children and decided to take the solo assignment.
“What! Won’t that be tough?”
“Won’t you be lonely?”
Those were the reactions from people around me.
But I will be honest.
Inside my heart——
I was doing a little fist pump (lol)
🌿 The first thing that came to me was a sense of liberation 🌿
There was a part of me that felt a little relieved.
My children have grown up,
and the time had come when my roles in the house were changing little by little.
I might be able to have time where I am not just “Mom”.
In a small room,
living just for myself.
Not on anyone else’s schedule,
waking up, eating, and sleeping at my own pace.
When I imagined that future,
my chest felt suddenly lighter.
Of course, it wasn’t that I had no anxiety.
But more than that,
“I might be able to be a little free”
that feeling won out.
Of course, it wasn’t that I had zero guilt.
Even though I am a mother.
Even though I am a wife.
But at the same time,
“What am I like when I am neither a mother nor a wife?”
that curiosity was also bubbling up.
Living alone for the first time in my 50s.
Even though I thought my youth was already over,
it feels like a second chapter is beginning.
I found myself getting a little excited.
💡 Only what is necessary is fine 💡
Not things for the family,
but the time spent choosing “only the things I use” is somehow fresh.
While packing cardboard boxes with a minimalist mindset,
I ask myself, “Do I really need this?”
Every time I reduced my belongings,
I felt like one of my roles was becoming lighter.
What I realized while choosing my luggage was that
reducing belongings
is similar to shedding a role.
It was also
a time to re-select what is necessary for “the current me”.
Since I’m at it, I’ll enjoy it to the fullest.
Time where I can spend it at my own pace without worrying about anyone.
Just that alone was somehow fresh.
The house I live in with my family is “everyone’s house”.
But this is different.
This is my castle.
That sense of accomplishment was beyond my imagination.
🌸 Since I’m at it, I’ll move forward a little too 🌸
Time to relax is also comfortable.
But, since it is my time alone,
maybe I should study something.
Maybe I should try to get a qualification.
Taking lessons might also be good.
While watching my children move toward their future,
I started to think, “Can’t I also start something new?”
I started to feel that way.
