How to Increase Data Insights with AI, Even If You Are Not Good with Numbers

Even if you are not good with numbers, it does not mean you can simply ignore data. When you publish videos or articles, there will be times when you need to check the response after publication and think about the next steps for improvement.

I am the type of person who tenses up the moment I open spreadsheet software. As I stare at columns of numbers, I lose track of what I should be looking for. That is precisely why it made sense to have AI help me organize the data.

■ Going a step beyond 'make a graph'

If you only want to leave simple calculations to AI, convenient spreadsheet functions can do that too. What I found useful was asking questions like the following:

・Which items have changed significantly compared to the previous period?
・Are there any examples that deviate from the overall trend?
・Are there items with many clicks or views that are not leading to the next action?
・What points should be checked additionally that cannot be judged by numbers alone?

Asking these questions creates an entry point for thinking about the meaning of the numbers. Differences I might have overlooked myself, or combinations that do not match my intuition, emerge as candidates for further investigation.

■ AI answers are 'candidates for discovery'

What you want to be careful about here is not taking the trends AI finds as absolute facts. Results change depending on how you define the period, and apparent relationships can sometimes arise due to missing data or differences in definitions.

If AI says, 'These two seem to be related,' go back to the original data and check the number of cases, the period, and any exceptions. If necessary, aggregate the data from a different perspective.

Do not dump the analysis entirely on AI; use it as an observer to help reduce oversights. This way, even those who are not good with numbers can close the distance to their data a little bit.

■ You do not need to overcome your weakness before starting

You do not need to fully understand numbers before using AI. First, organize the data you have on hand and have it sorted into 'what has changed,' 'what is unexpected,' and 'what needs checking.' From there, go back to the original data and verify just one thing.

The important thing is not to believe the AI's answer blindly, but to look at places you would not have looked at yourself. The person who makes the final judgment on the numbers is, ultimately, the creator themselves.
