December 21, 2025 Pojagi Class at Asahi Culture Center Kitakyushu

Today was a special, irregular session of the
Pojagi class at Asahi Culture Center Kitakyushu due to the year-end and New Year holidays. Thank you all for coming as always. There were so many snacks, too! Thank you for the treat.

The time was also different—instead of the usual 10:10 start, it began at 12:30! Since it was the weekend before Christmas and lunchtime, I expected the parking lot to be full, but it was surprisingly open. On the contrary, there was a traffic jam when I was leaving.
Maybe people were there for the illuminations? It was windy and cold on the way home.

The kanse (horse ornaments) were popular here as well. It was interesting to see how the styles differed quite a bit even though everyone used the same pattern, depending on the leg length or how much stuffing was packed in. If you don't pack the stuffing in firmly—to the point of sweating—it ends up with creases as if it had a fracture. It's a simple design, but it's surprisingly hard work.

Other projects included ramie placemats and jogakbo made from high-quality ramie.

Because high-quality ramie is thin and supple, it is delicate and prone to tearing, so I generally recommend storing it rolled up. Please take good care of this precious, high-quality ramie.

From next year onwards, we will continue to hold classes on the first Wednesday and fourth Sunday at Riverwalk Kitakyushu, 2nd floor. Visitors are also welcome.

The kanse (horse ornament) kits keep running out no matter how many I make, so I will make more! I'll do my best!
