#46 Why are we curious about other people's lives?
I have interviewed many people in the field of civic engagement.
People trying to solve local issues, people working to make their towns better, and people bringing things they wish existed into reality.
They may not have flashy backgrounds or famous achievements, but every word they speak is imbued with the accumulation of their life experiences and their thoughts, which touches my heart every time.
When I delve into their past from their current activities, their way of life emerges, and I can even feel their hopes for the future, making me realize that there is a 'proof' of their existence.
The stories of 'ordinary people' who are not celebrities.
There is no need to compare ourselves to others, but perhaps the reason we are moved is because of the lives we cannot experience ourselves and the preciousness that dwells in someone's 'casual daily routines'.
Each life has a story that belongs only to that person.
If I could record such stories and write them down as if handing them to someone.
If I could help gently preserve a scene from an ordinary life.
Lately, I have been thinking about things like that.
